What is your favorite OD to use w/ the Route 66 and why? Thanks!

I really like my ZVex Super Duper 2 in 1, it really slams the amp and does not change the tone at all. My other choice is a Fulltone FDII, very nice pedal as well.

I tend to prefer the non Tubescreamer clone pedals. The midrange get a bit over the top. I like the FD 2 on flat mids, Eternity is nice can add quite a bit of top end if you need it, and I have been using a Skreddy screwdriver lately that seems very good with the 66 as well. probably my all time favorite is an obscure one, the Solid Gold soundlabs High Octane. www.solidgoldfx.com/pedals/high_octane.php

I love my Hermedia zen drive with my 66. Keeps the thick sound of the 66 and no fizzy.

Not really an OD but I can certainly get it in the ballpark by turning the guitar volume down a bit. I usually have the boost side on all the time, mostly in the "mid" position to hit the front of the 66 a bit harder. The fuzz comes on for a "grindery" (is that a word?) tone. A match made in heaven if you ask me! ;D

I use a Zvex SHO - more of a boost/OD I guess, but it seems to have a pretty flat response, and doesn't mess with the tone of the amp. My #1 is the Brake-Lite though, on two clicks - lets you get the goods a bit earlier, sans pedal.

BK Bulter Tube Driver. Very versitile. Can take my Route 66 into SRZ territory too.

It depends on I'm after right now I have a King of Tone and a Bad Bob Booster on my board. The KOT is not to over the top. I have a Klon and it works great also. I also have used a Keeley Fuzz Head and it too was cool. I really don't remember putting a bad pedal in front of the 66.

I love my Ulbrick Megalodon although it's a clean boost, not really an overdrive but with volume at 3 oclock and gain on about 8:30 it drives the Route 66 into a bodatiously awesome tone dude!
The Tonefactor Hellbilly sounds pretty cool for that germanium fatness.

Lovepedal, Kalamazoo, Englishman, Eternity Burst, Keeley Fuzzhead, and as for just using a boost I like the Toadworks Meat, and the Seymour Duncan SFX-01.

Lately I like the Zendrive...huge thick sounds with the 66. Zvex SHO for more top end sparkle. Fulldrive 2 for more of the natural 66 sound, but louder & grittier.

I second the Zvex Super Duper 2-in-1.
I also use a barbershop OD from Fairfield circuitry but I prefer the SD2in1 cuz it's all sparkly.
FYI I use humbuckers.

I keep going back to my 65 Pedals Colour Boost. The germanium transistor seems to bring out the best in this amp.

All of the above but right now, I am using a Barber Burn Unit with my 66. I like it as well. Two channels, lots of tone and sound flexibility and long battery life.
But you can't go wrong with a 66!

my BB Pre sounds great with it. i recently acquired a Lovepedal Amp 11 that sounds pretty good too. most of my OD's work well with it.

Played this weekend with one of the $100 Lovepedal Eternity pedals in place of the Sunlion. Nice tones to be had there as well. The Route continues to deliver with its ability to "eat up" any pedal you put in front it it! :-)

id be interested in hearing more about that lovepedal amp eleven with the route 66. I also currently have the BB Preamp (MB version)... and I think its great with the 66. But those clips with the lovepedal amp11 sound awesome as well.
I have a tim thats been on order for a while now that im eager to try out aswell. But I can second the Analogman SUNFACE nkt 275 being really good with the 66... Im just not too fussy using that pedal with humbuckers... I find it too dark and mushy sounding... but with my strat its great.
BB Pre MB is great with both guitars.
I built a BYOC Triboost and installed Mullard OC44 Ge Trannies in there and cranked it sounds amazing on on the treble boost setting through the 66... but it needs to be LOUD!... A little hard to use with a full band.

i played a benefit this past Sunday with the 66 and a 112 cab with an Eminence Delto Pro 12 which is their version of an EV 12L. great sound right off the bat. i didn't have the Amp 11 but i did use my COT 50 and a Fulltone Plimsoul and they both sounded killer. running the Cot into the Plimsoul gives some very nice tones indeed. very easy to get the Cream era Clapton type of tone. with just the COT 50 it's very Plexi like. so far every OD i have put in front of the 66 sounds great.

Plimsoul.
1st distortion pedal I ever really liked! You know, I rarely try to cop tones of other amps (for instance, that plexi sound, that blackface sound, that tweed sound, that whatever sound). Always been chasing my own weird thing. And although I'm new to distortion stompboxes, and I'm new to Dr. Z (my other amp is a Carmen Ghia -- and, I've had both amps less than a month! Oh, yeah.) I feel like I'm sonically limited only by my imagination with my 66 and this purple pedal. I feel like I can do anything I want. I've never had such a feeling of freedom with any 15-knobbed big-buck amp, that's for realsies.

I've mentioned this before, but it bears repeating......
The Zvex Box of Rock melds with the 66 like they were built for each other. It's the only pedal that sounds exactly like the RT, cranked. Plus, the boost works wonders for driving that EF86 nicely.
I won't own a 66 without one, to be honest.

I just got back from rehearsal were I tried a Fulltone OCD with the Route 66.
WOW
If you're looking for a hard rock sound, look no further. It immediately blew my rat clone off my board.
Again, WOW.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about the Plimsoul from Fulltone. Could be worth a look-see. I haven't tried it myself but have read that you can get tones that are comparable to the OCD and then some. I'm sure I would like it.
