Anyone tried either one of these?

Much different IMO.
The FD2 is smoother and a hair on the dark side. Not too dark but you're not going to find yourself dialing out too much high end.
The Power Screamer sounds a bit nmore natural to me. I used mine through my Z28 and my Maz Sr. The Power Screamer never rolled off any of the highs of the Maz. My big problem with the FD2 was that when I would turn it on I could hear the highs being killed a bit.
The Power Screamer was a great low/medium rythme OD. It plays well with others too.
I never really used the second chanel in either pedal tho.

Thanks Laroosco!!
See I've played a couple of Fulltone pedals and I think they are very well built and all that, but I can never just get them sound "right" if that makes sense.
I'm selling off all my pedals, 10 in all I think, and I want one good overdrive with a boost to replace all that crap. By all accounts these two have gotten the most rave reviews, but I think I'm going to go with the Power Screamer. Plus, everyone says that Joel Weaver is a hell of a nice guy and well, we've all heard stories about Mike Fuller.
Thanks for the info.

I've had both and got rid of the HBE Power Screamer and kept the Fulldrive 2. I've got one of the newer Fulldrive's with the mini-toggle for comp cut/flat mid/vintage setting. While it's not the Holy Grail of O/D pedal, it's very smooth and natural to me. It's got plenty of high end to me, and the tone knob is at 2 o'clock.
The Power Screamer to me had a real small sweet spot where it sounded good to me. Outside of that, it just sounded buzzy.
Tone is very subjective!
A/B them both in a gig setting and see which one you like best. Your ear is the only one that matters.

Apparently I'm the only guy that doesn't like any of Fulltone od/distortion pedals. Maybe because I keep the drive knobs almost all the way down. If I want more I kick the front of the pedal with a compressor. To me Fulltones always sound flat, cardboardy and unnatural. I expect a pedal to not change my basic sound. I want a sound that is more like an amp cranked up to the point of some limiting/compression and harmonics. I think the improved Tube Screamers are good. I especially like the Reverend Drivetrain, the Visual Sound Route 66, the Speedster Turbocharger and I'm sure there are others. But the Fulltone stuff really alters my tone too much, even the OCD. If you want that then I can see it but if you just want your same tone but cranked those pedals don't do it for me.

No, i don't think you're the only one billyguitar, i'm actually right there with you. like i said, i've heard players sound awesome through his stuff but i just can't get along with them. i had the DP-1 and liked it at first, but i think that was just because it didn't sound like any of my other pedals, it was the "new" one. then one day i A/B'd it against my old boss DS-1 and the boss absolutely destroyed the fulltone. damn, what a waste.
so, i was wondering if the DP-1 just sucked or if all of his pedals were weird.

The MJM Blues Devil is the best TS type pedal out there IMO

just ordered my power screamer. it is a surf green one with the fat boost option. i don't play heavily overdriven most of the time, but it would be nice if i could really get a zz top gibbons sort of thang happenin with the fat boost (when i needed it).
i'll follow up once i get a chance to check her out properly.
