I love my Monza but even with the attenuator on 4 its really loud for my music room. I was thinking of trading it in for the Dr Z Mini Z with the built in attenuator. Any thoughts -- would I be losing much tone!!!!!!

They're both very different. Monza has a thicker drive... and it is loud. The Mini-Z is loud too but may be a better alternative in your case.

Any thoughts -- would I be losing much tone!!!!!! How is it your having loudness on 4??? With the Break and your guitar volume you should be able to get the tones you want at playable levels. I have never had a mini but my guess is the Mini although nice doesn't have the clarity the Monza has. In the same way the Monza doesn't with the Mazerati GT . Everytime I hear a demo of a Mini Z it seems to saturated. JMO

If you run a decent overdrive in front of your Monza, you can play as loud as a whisper. Just turn the Monza up where you like and kick on the OD, and turn down the volume on the OD where it works for you.......its not the same as krankin the Monza but definitely works for low volume.

I agree with toneexplorer. I've used my OD pedal with minimal amp settings and found usable tone and dynamics without having to attenuate. It works in the bedroom and it works better than I had thought it would. Now I can play my Monza anytime(no matter who's home). I never liked what my Airbrake did to the Monza's dynamics. I spent $330 to find that out. Bummer for me.
