I currently have two 1x12 cabinets, both with Greenbacks (my all time favorite speaker). One closed, one open.
Since I don't have the Stangray anymore (snif snif), I'm thinking about getting an openback 1x12 with a G12H30 for a more twang-ish tone. I had a 2x12 Maz Jr with G12H30's and I thought those speakers, with their recessed mids and sparkly high end were fantastic for twang/single coils.
But then the other side of me says the openback greenback will be just fine.

Everyone hears it differently, but for me, strong mids sound great with a Tele as long as they are smooth and interesting (like a Gold or Blue) so it all depends on what you are trying to do.

I did a country gig last night with the Remedy and a 1x12 Gold. I'ts a good modern country sound. I felt that I needed more sizzle to get that country snap. I'm going to experiment with settings at tonight's gig...
I'm very curious to see how this thread goes.

You know I've said before, I think the greenback is like a ceramic blue. (or at least as close as you're going to get) So that's why I'm wondering if it will be just fine. They both have: Lush mids early breakup flappy bottom end when pushed hard Perhaps the greenback has a little less high end sparkle than the blue, but not by much.

I am wondering this myself... I have been thinking of the G12H30 in a 1x12 for use with my Remedy and my Z-28... I have used my V30 for rehearsal and at home it sounds pretty good but i think the hollow mids on the G12H would work a bit better..
Can the G12H take the Remedy on Full Power? I will pry never reach the dimed volumes kinda of thing, so i don't think it wold be a problem..

When I chicken pick my Remedy sounds twangy regardless of guitar/cab. That being said I play it with a zbest greenback/v30.

I understand, but I think the Remedy is already providing strong mids. Not like a Stangray where the mids are a bit recessed and you need a gold/blue to bring them back out. That's why I'd never use a G12H30 with the stangray.

The Remedy's mids can certainly be strong and forward but not necessarily (as) smooth with many speakers, like the greenback (which, is my personal fav.), as with, say, a Gold (my second fav.). I may say here, that smooth, while not exactly being synonymous with clean; the two words come close to describing (in the midrange) what a Gold verses say a Greenback with a Remedy, accomplish sonically... man, I hope that sort of makes sense.... Oh, and i also would love to hear your twang setup for the Remedy....
