..yep.. go for it davis. If using a 112 with the Maz 18, which speaker will you choose? The Tubby would be awesome, but many people use the Blue with their Maz 18.

I was just reminded of my wonderful little cab by Scotty, on a Ghia thread.
I'm enjoying the cab more than ever, now that the Tubby is loosened up. Neutral, solid, wide dispersion.. Beautiful.

Totally cool, for sure. Hopefully you may see a link to my work on their site in the not too distant future. No CNC work here though. Actually, their site really blows lately. John says they are working on it. Hey Jan, will your link be included on the new Tubby site? I spoke with Thom a couple of days ago.. he said the site should be complete any day. I'm talking with him about having a discussion board linked up too.

Now this is the type of build quality I like to see in a cab!

No doubt about it prowler.. the quality of Dave's design and construction are at the top [and that's sayin' a lot for a Z owner, eh].. I'm so glad I took a chance on Dave... markT has got me thinking about a custom "3D110" [and a Beano Boost (but that's another story)], with his recent 1x10 Tubby/Ghia adventures. And, I just noticed that Dave has some new sealed models on his website www.fortemusical.com. A Ceramic-loaded 112S Tubby under my 3D112 would be fun!

I'm very interested in the Forte cabs but I'm not sure they will work for me. I currently have two projects going on. One is an all original hard rock band in the vein of Alice In Chains and the other is a rock to hard rock cover band.
I'm looking for a new cab that will cover these styles effectively but I'm not sure if the Forte design is going to give me the "chunky" low end response this music calls for. I'm not one of those players who needs tons of deep low-end but I do like my sound to have some stoutness to it. I'm thinking the Forte design will sound too much like an open back cab.
Can you offer any advice on the overall response of the cab?

If I were in your situation, I'd order the new 112S (sealed) model with a Ceramic Tone Tubby.. boy, that'd be one of the tightest, strongest 1x12 cabinets anywhere. The 3D112 suits my needs best, cause I play mostly bluesy classic rock sounds.. it mates with Alnico heavenly. But, based on the quality of my 3D112, I'd order a 112S from Dave without hesitation if I was playing a lot of Alice in Chains or AC/DC. I am just as dedicated to Dave's cabs, as I am Z amps. Let me know if there are specific questions that I didn't answer.

I've heard alot of great things about the Forte 3D 112. Small footprint and big sound.
Love my Z 1-12 convertable which I run open backed, but I may try one of these Forte cabs with the same WGS Retro-30 speaker that I've got in the Z currently.

I've got an alnico TT in an open back cab. It sounds great with every amp I've got. Yesterday I received from UPS a Musicman 110RD50. It sounds a lot better with the TT than the stock 10" speaker. I might have to get a 10" TT for that amp. Don't the ceramics sound very similar to the alnicos? Anybody know?

Don't the ceramics sound very similar to the alnicos? Anybody know? In my experience, the 40/40 Ceramics do sound very similar to the Alnicos. Yet, subtle differences are evident. I think the Ceramics sound a bit brighter. I also notice a little upper-end "tear" in the Ceramic.. where the Alnico just keeps being smooth. Basically, I think of the Alnico as more sophisticated.. smooth and classy to the end. If you want a little "edge", try a 40/40. ..hope I've helped a little...

Extremely impressive cabinet construction and design.
But the look very heavy. The 1x12 is also probably pretty huge-- might as well lug a 2x12!
I love the slotted interior structure-- looks super cool. I'm not sure it adds enough stiffness to be worth the weight penalty.
I'm guessing these might be the heaviest empty cabs on the market, short of a treadplate Recto cab:)

Very nice find Corey.
You have definitely peeked my interest!!
I have always wanted to try another cab with my Maz 18Nr. I've got the Doc's 2x10 convertible cab and it sounds awesome, but I've also wanted to try lower dB & Wattage 12" speaker for a long time in a 1x12 configuration. That 2x10 cab is LOUD!
I play mostly blues and the occasional country rock.
- Celestion Blue is 100dB & 15watts - G12h30 is 100dB & 30watts. For some reason I’ve got it stuck in my head that this speaker is a “solid Rock” speaker. - Gold is also 100dB, but 50watts – Interesting. - Vintage 30 is a 100dB and 60watts – that’s getting into the Doc’s 10” territory.
The ToneTuby Alnico Red is a 50? 70W speaker? Not sure about the overall dB as the website couldn’t give any details.
I’m also looking at getting a higher powered amp than the Maz so the Blue would need to be scratch from the list.
Is the Gold, in a 3D open-sided cab design the ticket?? Gonna have to find a cab in town with one it in to at least get to hear it in person.

Ben, the Red Alnico Tubby is officially rated for 50 watts [although it's widely known that Santana keeps one in a 1x12 Boogie Mark I combo (90 watts)]. The efficiency is 97db and as you pointed out, this is lower than average for guitar speakers. The joy I have with my H1 Tubby is equal to that of my Ghia. Dave (the founder and sole craftsman of Forte) is a great guy.. he and I have become friends. He's a regular on the Tone Tubby Proboard.. stop by and exchange some info.
