I know the general design of the Remedy is for some big time break up on its own... But. Not all of us can run everything Tracii Gunns style without an Air Brake..
What do you guys favor for an OD with your Remedy?
I have put my AC+ through it and it sounds really great, Keeley BD-2 is good haven't been blown away by the pedal in general.. My Katana really is a good boost and pumps it up a good amount.. lol Haven't gotten through all my OD's yet.. The Barber SS is a great one as well....
Hard to try other things than the AC+... Am going to pump the new Fulldrive 2 into it soon hopefully..

Thanks for posting this. I have a modded SD1 (lovepedal something or other) that is a nice lead boost and a modded BD2. I like them but don't love them.
I had considered the Blackstar suff for the heavier sound but that seemed to get shot out of the sky rather quickly by our friends here. So, I will be following along with much interest.
For me I want a nice clean boost for the MAZ, and some dirt and hi gain for the Remedy.
Thanks all, I'm looking forward to the replies.

All the Remedy's out there and only one post ?? Come on guys... Not everyone can be running the Remedy with and Air Brake or dimed.. Not many clubs can hold the volume that it can crank on Full Power..
What I have used so far..
AC+ .... GREAT sound but doesn't clean up as much as I like with the guitar volume.. SOO SMOOTH AND THICK YET ALMOST CLEAN!!! EJ/Robben Ford/Bonamasa...
BD-2..... Eh it works but is a good low gain boost type thing other than that gets kinda fizzy..
Barber SS/Super Sport..... damn!!!
Fulldrive 2... Pretty sweet need some more time with it but I like it....Can't believe I jsut said that about something made by "That Guy".

I'm running an AC+ and a Fat Boost 2. I've got an OCD that sounds great through it, as well. I think it'll take any OD pedal well.

I use an OCD. It works very well for either a clean volume boost or for driving the Remedy's front end into saturation (depending on the OCD's "drive" control setting). When I kick in the OCD, it doesn't sound like another guitar player just landed on the stage... it compliments the Rem's natural tone nicely. The Remedy doesn't really need an OD pedal when playing at gig-level volume. It's natural breakup point is perfect for the style of music I play. Just ride the guitar's volume knob from clean to chunky rhythm to sustaining leads. It's nice to have the OCD available to push the amp to 11 though

Hmmm. I am after a Judas Priest (Screaming for Vengeance) type sound out of the Remedy as well as some VH sounds. I am pretty sure I can get the VH sounds with a boost but where to go for the Priest sounds? Does that Keeley TS9 Baked mod thing get there?

I could get some pretty heavy thick tones with the TS max gain stacked with my Modded DS-1 set more low gain drive, with my Maz Jr... I think it would work great with the Remedy.. My AC+ can get a pretty thick smooth tone.. Very Journey, Boston, Def Leopard with both sides running...

If you would have gotten the SRZ instead of the Remedy, you wouldn't be needing a pedal to get the JP sounds... ;D Really, I am just teasing you... Not so much about the sounds, just you decision... ;D

Kicking? YES, In the NUTS! OUCH, guys, geez. I didn't decide to take the Remedy over the SRZ, the sales guy KEPT it from me for his own collection. The REMEDY was HIS initially and becasue he kept the SRZ he gave me a SMOKING deal on the Remedy (I guess to make me feel better? - which it did as the Remedy only had 10 hrs play time on it).
OD's I tried yesterday -
I tried a Lovepedal Purple Plexi, Kalamazoo and the Xotic BB pre pedal with the mid control.
Lovepedal P.P. - Hotrodded JCM 800 sound but too much gain at the lowest setting and the volume control is not in control. I found this pedal had a good sounding gain when at its lowest setting but became overly saturated and fizzy at the top end with not much change in the sweep. The tone control was actaully great, the volume was really only usable from 0 to 1/4, after that it was ridiculous. You certainly couldn't use it after 1/4 as a clean /dirty as the volumes would never match. OK that is to say I expect the pedal was working properly. IF I used this into a decicated "dirty amp" I think I would be VERY happy to set it and forget it. Outside of that, maybe a good pedal for the studio. If the Purple Plexi offered just a bit more control, it would have been the winner. The switch placement on the pedal in relation to the controls was very smart and the switch felt really good under the foot. No dpdt pop either.
The Lovepedal Kalamazoo thing was too much work for me. The switch was too close to the controls to be safely used on the pedalboard for my liking. Too much screwing around to try and get a decent sound (though I am certain its in there - but what if you kick the pedal and knock one of the controls live?) GRRR, no thanks. Its another one that I think it would be a great tool for studio use.
Xotic BB with mid control - Just meh. I like the original's sound better. It DOES sound different. I really like the original BB preamp pedal and I will likely get it soon.
I'm really interested to hear about the Keeley and Analogman stuff.
I owned an Analogman Silver Modded SD-1 (the frog mod was it?) and it was just great.
I have the opportunity to try out some clones of the Zvex super hard on and some more lovepedal clones as well, Once I do I'll report back.
I actually have a very inexpensive pedal (don't shoot at me) its the Tech21 Double Drive - Unless something comes along that blows me away, I'm quite happy to keep this on the board! Its great live.
I'm also still quite keen to try out the Blackstar stuff for myself. I'd also like to get my hands on the Lizard Leg Flying Dragon just to see what all the fuss is about.
Well I'm rambling now so......

I've tried two- the digitech bad monkey, which sounded much like a tube screamer, but slightly woofy at times, and a Klon Centaur. The Klon sounded incredible, but by the time it got really cookin', it was a HUGE and LOUD sound! Ear splitting, really! But it sure was fun! Then I sold the Klon, and honestly, I haven't missed it much.

I remember the story... Honestly, I was just teasing. The Remedy is on my short list. However, the "British Steel" sound was one of the Doc's advertising points for the SRZ. Keep on the lookout for a good deal on a used SRZ. They come up every so often.

Favorite OD with Remedy? BB Preamp works quite nice, as does the Flying Dragon .... and both sound even better when run thru the loop feature of a nicely dial'd-in Draconis ..... rock on! ;D ;D cheers always, eh Joel

Just picked up a Wampler Pinnacle II yesterday. I was going to test the 10 day return policy at the store that carries the Blackstar stuff because I like a certain flavour of distortion/overdrive. I saw a youtube clip of the Pinnacle II a couple of days ago and thought, geez, that sounds pretty good and right up my alley. On a whim I asked the sales guy if they carried Wampler AND THEY DID! But I couldn't see any. I told him I wanted the Pinnacle II so he reaches up over his head on the counter behind him and grabs the very last one they have and hands it to me. What good luck. Except for the price tag that is. OUCH! $301.00 Canadian dollars after taxes. Of course I tried it out first. At the store I used a 65 Amps "London" to demo the pedal. I won't bore you with the details but would advise you to definitely GO OUT OF YOUR WAY to try one if at all available. I understand that Wampler re-released the Pinnacle II (has a boost stomp switch). The newer pinnacle has a boost toggle switch that I don't understand. How would you use that live? Anyway, check these links - www.wamplerpedals.com/pinnacle_2_reissueHope this helps! M

I have a Keeley Fuzz Head (kinda of a wreck between an OD and a Fuzz pedal if you ask me) and it sounds pretty rock'n. I also agree about the Keeley BD-2- worked great on my Badger 30, on the Remedy it was just kinda meh. Box of Rock - not really an OD but it can really make the amp sing and more moderate levels without an air brake. Now I will say that after having been through several full band rehearsals with the thing (we be kinda loud) at that volume I almost dont need any dist. or OD pedals at all. Just maybe a boost. If I run an air brake (which I really dont like to, just one more thing to get lost, abused, broken) you dont need anything but a volume knob on your guitar IMO.

Having JUST returned from a jam with a drummer today, I must agree 100%. My setting on the Remedy was Bass 9 o'clock, Mid and Treb at 3 o"clock with High and Normal at around 1 o'clock. First I have to comment on the volume - OUCH! earplugs for me next time. Half power was actually pretty cool BUT, when you switch over to Full Power - Look out sunshine! My wampler pinnacle was pretty cool but sounded a bit Nickelback and took a lot of fiddling to get a sound I wanted (not too scooped or Modern sounding). I have a modded SD1 and a modded blues driver and both sound excellent with the Remedy. I think I was done before I bought the Wampler but didn't know it as I never had a chance to crank it up to really appreciate what it sounded like. I will keep the wampler on my board anyway as it works great with the Maz. Anyway, to echo dazed1's comment, the Remedy alone is stellar. ALMOST don't need an OD except for a boost or what have you. Very very nice Dr. Z! Great amp, my have edged my Maz - for now anyway! M
