hello everyone,
im looking for a new amp for classical/shoegaze/indie music. ive been considering just getting a twin reverb RI but these two really catch my eye! and i have a few questions i hope some of you can answer.
-is the jaz pretty much a remedy with reverb, tremelo, and an effects loop? meaning, is it a plexi-like amp with 4 6v6's or is it something different?
-if it is a remedy with add ons, is it worth the extra $500?
-and what kind of speakers does the jaz combo use, does it have alnico magnets???
i appreciate any help, im gonna use a lot of people to get a variety of sounds and an effects loop in my thing. i just wanna know if its worth the extra money to dish out.
p.s. i am NOT a BLUES player for what its worth.

I don't know much about the Jaz. But I do know that it is not a plexi style like a Remedy, at all other than 6V6's... The Remedy is a blend to me of Marshall Plexi and Fender Bassman/Deluxe.. The Jaz or EZG-50 are a total trip down Fender lane so would be close to a Twin Reverb especially the EZG.. The Remedy would be a great indie rock and classic rock amp.. Are you talking classical like Beach classical or classic rock? I have no clue what shoegaze is so have not a clue... The Remedy doesn't have an effects loop so if you absolutely need it then the Remedy is not your thing.. The Reverb and Trem are what brings the cost of the Jaz up.. The Maz jr and Sr have effects loop and reverb as well, and are extremely versatile!

The JAZ 20/40 is a Swiss Army Knife of the Z-Amps. It can do it all as far as music styles. It's not a Plexi like the Remedy is but you can dial in some of that, but it's is different than that and versatile. It's not just a Remedy with add ons either. It has a very rich sound and the Trem is second to none. The Reverb goes to surf easily but you can dial it to subtle too. I don't know what speakers it's offered with but the Z 10s it sounds great as does a Celestion Gold or Jensen Blackbirds and EVM12L and Weber Silver Bell AlNiCo. It's very speaker friendly. For indie rock this is a great amp. For any kind of rock it will get you there. I let a pro borrow mine for this past week and I hope he gives it back to me Weds as promised. If you want to look at it as a feature laden Remedy, it's still worth every bit and then some.
