I am just curious. I see alot of talk about this amp being loud. That it is but even in a large room it's not deafening.
The tone is awesome..So why all these early sales. I don't see this with other Z's//

It tends to happen when a new model comes out. There are quite a few folks that like to grab the latest thing, play it a while and then move on to try the next latest thing. Its a cool amp.

My guess would be part that and part that it is a gain amp.

No more than the Ghias that are all on E-bay - this economy is tough on a lot of people! Makes for some good buys though!

There are a lot more of Ghias made over the years than Monzas in a few moths. I't seems like a killer gain monster... I think some guys owned it as a one & only amp and maybe it's not clean enough ? A guess I don't have one. I was told by a very reliable source '' It's great if you Rock out all the time ; Not sweet like Rem'' , Z28, Maz, RXs & Rays. I added the other Zs because they are all sweet and I've owned all but the Ray. when you back off guitar vol. But Remember I don't have one.

I think a lot of people think it is only a "practice"amp since it is ONLY 18 watts and has ONLY a 10" speaker - once they get it home and hear it - wow! Is that a loud 18 watts! I had James and Shorty (Ryan) over here this week and they can vouch for its loudness!! Good thing I got the blond 1x10 - not sure I could stand the volume of a RED Monza!

You got short changed on your's...lol It may have to do with how loud it is. Also having to attenuate it to manage that volume IMO takes away some or alot of that sweet tone. I was using an Airbrake with my Head version but I just could not accept what it did to its tone. Now I just make my family leave cause I play it unbridled hehe. Luv it that way. The other thing is it won't hide your play'n. You hear everything especially the weaknesses. I appreciate this in an amp and find these kind to be more expressive and dynamic. If a persons playing isn't ready for an amp like that or they just can't deal with how their play'n translates through it, some may move on. There is always those who based on taste just don't like it. Happens with any amp.

I checked eBay and didn't see any used Monzas; there's only a couple in buy/sell here. Mostly on eBay people seem to be selling Ghias or MAZ Srs. I think for a lot of people the Monza's probably a second or third amp, and those are generally the first to ge when the spouse says it's time to downsize. Also, the Monza really only does one thing, although it does it very well. Folks who are expecting more flexibility might have second thoughts.
Htoverdrive--so what's the verdict on your "new" Monza?

I think some people get a monza and dont spend enough time with it. It is very versitile in my opinion if you know how to work the guitar volume....alot of guys dont...they just plug and play on 10 on their guitar and think its a one trick pony. I used to be that way btw, but z amps have taught me to use a little more "dynamics" in my playing.........I get alot of great tones with just working the volume on the guitar.......
I love the monza......

Its stuck in transit. Last location is: HODGKINS, IL, US 07/26/2010 8:51 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN HODGKINS, IL, US 07/24/2010 9:37 A.M. ARRIVAL SCAN HODGKINS, IN, US 07/24/2010 8:47 A.M. BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED I was suppose to get it the 29th...I think its stuck somewhere down there due to all the bad weather. UPS just states its in transit and apologizes for not updating. Next week is when I'll start to worry and make some noise. Trying to be patient. This is not the first time I've had items stuck in transit...

I love my Monza. Best crunch tone I think I've had in my playing career. Mine's not going anywhere. ;D

Mine is not going anywhere either. Same here. I finally clicked off the Brake Lite and dialed the guitar volume way back to get a very nice clean tone. (still pretty low on volume and drive knobs.) As a result, I think one way to approach the Monza is to use both guitar volume and BL adjustments to achieve more tonal range.

I finally got a chance to try the Monza over the weekend. It does its one trick very well, but has anyone tried cleaning it up with different preamp tubes?
I'm going to ask in one of the tube threads, and hopefully get replies there as well.

Yep--gear has a way of coming back around. And the economy won't always suck this bad. I hope.

I am not a Monza expert or even played one.. Just going off of demos I have seen and listened too.. Personally I think it lacks the variety of tone options that the Doc's amps are known for... This could be way off base but it would be nice to see and hear the Moza in a live situation, to see how it can hang with everyone else.. I might change my mind if I play one so who knows...

The Monza is great for the one sound it has though. Okay, two sounds -- dirty, and more dirty.

I can squeez alot of different tones out of mine. You just have to learn how to really work the volume knob on the guitar........and with the BL, you can get a variety of diff sounds on 0, compared to on 3 or 4.......just takes some quality time with it.

Mine is not going anywhere either. Mine is staying put. Though I may be looking to sell some overdrive pedals. They are redundant now...
