Was just wondering what all tones come out of such a cool looking amp? Can you get any overdriven bluesy tones?

Hey Mim, there is plenty of overdrive sound in this amp, can be as bluesy as you can play. Choose front pickup on strat or tele or les Paul or 335 and bask in bluesy tonality. I'm finding there can be so much distortion that I'm cutting' back my volumes to a more mellow, smooth distortion. Running the hi vol on about 1-2 o'clock and the normal vol on noon-1 o'clock!

I have not even begun to explore the wide gamut of tones this amp can produce. But I've recorded about six clips of some specific sounds that people were asking about: My Remedy Clips

Then you can run the Rem in full power when you want lots of clean headroom and still manage the overall volume.

Heres one you'll laugh at since I'm new. How does the brake lite work? Do they install it or can you?

Heres one you'll laugh at since I'm new. How does the brake lite work? Do they install it or can you? I just sit the Brake Lite on top of the Remedy and tuck the BL's edge under the Rem's handle. The cable and plug attached to the BL easily reaches the Rem's speaker jacks, and then plug the cable to the speaker cab into the BL. You might be able to physically install it inside the box, but I don't know if there's enough clearance. Importantly, the BL to date was intended to be installed, but some of us just "float" them around across various amps. However, a -- fully enclosed, I assume-- standalone unit is about to be introduced. I don't know when, but It will surely be announced on Z Talk.

Is the brake-lite enough for the Remedy? Does the Airbrake work better?

I don't know if the Air Brake works any better, but I really like indestructible box in which it's built. I would spend the extra $ just for the ease of mind and ability to chuck it in a milk crate without worrying.

Brake Lite is good for up to 45 watts, while the Airbrake is good for up to 100 watts. For the Remedy, either one is fine. The Airbrake does have a bedroom setting with a rheostat in there so you can go way WAY down in volume, but of course your hearing will tell you it's altering the tone (it doesn't much, really, but that may or may not be relevant depending on your ears).
I have two Airbrakes here, and one Brake Lite. They all get used all the time.

I have one (Brake-Lite) installed on the inside my 1x12 Convertible Z cab. I cut the cable too short so I have some creative extendtions but it works GREAT.. Just plug the amp to the cab and click when needed.

Love this Air Brake. Use it on the Rem and the Studio 66, and especially love it with the Rem on full power. Find that if I run it down more than two clicks, gets a little "preamp overdrivy" sounding. But just one or two clicks back is great and makes the amp have a wider range of volume/distortion uses. Can crank up the hi and normal volumes to get the nazz you want, then cut the overall volume back without losing that low end punch. Have yet to use it in gig setting, but have rehearsed with full band to great effect at home. That said, have cranked it back to bedroom level to play late at night with the lil woman sleeping in the back of the house and been quite satisfied with the tones in such a situation. Just copped another one on eBay! May need a third for total convenience, as I've yet to try it on the Maz18, which I find to be a bit preamp overdrivy with the master turned back below 9 o'clock. My guess is I'll like the tone better with the master up and the brake back a click or two.

The other night I visited Steve's "Remedy clips" page and copied his settings for the two Cream clips and played for a while with the Airbrake. The tone was glorious. Thanks Steve. Then I tried playing on the Brake's 'bedroom' setting and it sounded nearly as great as on any of the other four clicks. The Airbrake is a very good unit. I think the bedroom setting sounds 'preamp-distortiony' on other amps (especially EL84 amps), but it sure sounded sweet with the cranked Remedy.

Dial the Cut up higher than you might think and pull the Treble back. I think you'll have fun.

When I got #13 my son played it at Mass Street music before I brought it home. When I heard the tone of some worn out classics like Hey Joe and Under The Bridge I knew immediately this was something special. I am not much of a guitarist but I love music and tone......I don't care if it is in a car, a house or at a party. How many people do you know that has used an Octave Band Analyzer for their job? I understand how humans hear tones and how to break frequency response down. I emailed the good doctor shortly after bringing it home and told him it was the best tone (for me) ever and that it totally blew me away with the Z best cab. I got a nice response back from the "man."
Best wishes in you amp search, Dr Z will exceed your expectations when you decide on the amp you are looking for.

So would it take a trem, rev, and overdrive pedal well? It takes pedals as well as any amp I've ever played. Overdrive pedals? Oh yeah...stomp on it and hang on for the ride!!

Definitely get a BrakeLite. To me, many of Doc's amps sound similar at lower volume levels, but once you get them cookin' a little bit, the character of the amp comes out.
For home use, I gave up on trying to find a small amp to crank to get great tone. Nothing replaces the fullness and push a higher wattage amp produces and for me, they sound better even turned down than a small amp opened up.
I will say the perceived volume of the Remedy at half power is no louder than my Ghia, both with a BrakeLite at 2 clicks.

Think that Wampler Plexi Drive would sound good through the REM? I think the Plexi Drive would sound great... My Zvex Distortron which is a supposed JTM/Plexi in a box and it pumps some great drive into the Remedy..
