So tell me...what can I expect as far as volume and headroom with the Remedy on half power vs Maz 18 NR? 20 watts vs 18? Is it pretty cut an dry answer or is there more to it? I'm guessing the volume and headroom would be pretty close... I'll have to rely on you guys to get my fix till mine gets here ;D ... and you guys do a grand job!~

i'd say that they are really comparable as far as headroom is concerned. i use to own a maz18 and now own a remedy.

I have the Maz Jr w/reverb and am waiting on my Remedy.. From my try out at the dealer of a Remedy, the Maz and Remedy on half power are pretty close..
The Remedy might have the edge by a bit.. I think the EL84's tend to break up a tad bit faster than the 6V6...

PS...you have helped me in making my decision in ordering my Remedy...even though you don't have one....yet... Thanks!~ You are very welcome... It almost feels like I have it... It was kind of a fast decision in picking the Remedy considering it took me about 3 months to pick my Maz.. It's taking a bit to get one.. It was a every few days trying it out at my dealer, so I looked it over pretty good before I went to get it and it was gone.. Oh well that's what not having all the money will do for you.. lol Have fun with the Remedy.. You have a dealer near you? Or are you going to order from Humbucker? I almost did that but am trading a couple guitars when my Remedy gets in.

Humbucker is my closest dealer. ( 4hrs away ) And yes, I ordered it through them. Not sure how long it's gonna take. Hopefully only a few weeks. I had a 2nd Maz Jr NR w/tbm head ordered and all this talk about the remedy made me change my order (& wait time!). I think I'll like this new Z flavor...I come from the school of 70's rock! ;D There is talk about the Remedy not having much clean headroom and I want it for what it does best, but coming in at 40 watt's I'm thinking it has more than my Maz Jr NR....That's why I started this thread about the Rem on half power vs the Jr NR so I could get somewhat better of an idea. Can't wait to see for myself...

The thing is, if you're interested in clean headroom, why would you limit the Remedy to half power, when it comes with FOUR bottles in the back pocket? Stick it on full power and it has a TON of clean headroom - way more than the Maz Jr. However, if you want that '70s grind, stick an Airbrake or Brake Lite on the output, and crank the volumes and there you are. Very cool amplifier!

I will have to agree with Benttop, that for big clean headroom the Remedy on Full power has tons... The wait is the hardest part about getting a Z on order.. My Maz was in stock and sounded great at that time lol after 5 years, I am not sure... I used to set it and forget it now i am constantly futzing with it.. Driving me crazy.. How do you like your NR Maz? I am sure it is pretty good with that blue you got.. Maybe its just me but mine is always real bright...

Stick it on full power and it has a TON of clean headroom - way more than the Maz Jr. Very cool amplifier! Now that's what I was wanting to hear! ;D I'm sure I'll be running it on full as the "horsepower" main amp in my 2 amp stereo rig. I was wanting the half power Remedy vs Maz 18 comparison to kinda put things in perspective. Maybe I should have ask...How much more headroom and volume does the Remedy on full have over the Maz 18....? 40 watts vs 18 seems like a no brainer.. Ty...I love my Maz 18 NR w/blue! It's got that sparkle and chime thing going on that I love. I can always dial out the high's if it's too much. That amp will be with me all the way! It sounds like you may need some new power tubes? Have you changed them lately?

It has always been bright but I think I went to far trying to avoid the muddy woofy thing I had with my last amp,a none Z.... I just keep the treble at about 9 o'clock, the mids and bass round 12 - 2.. Nice warm clean sound, makes my Tele/LP/or Strat sing...

Had a maz was a a little too bright for me. The Remedy works perfect for my styles anything from clean to good old 70's hard rock. If your a fan of classic 60's 70's marshall tones the remedy is the ticket. It also is a killer clean amp as well and works great for country. Highs aren't near as peircing as the maz to my ear, but it still has plenty of highs just the good kind . HOpe you guys enjoy your remedy's. Cheers!

As for the Remedy it will go through my existing 1x12cab so far and I do have a few speaker options to try out.

Having heard them side by side. I'd say that the MAZ18 and the Remedy on 20 watts have similar amounts of clean headroom. Actually I find both to be very versitile as well. There are tons of sounds in both of those amps.

I have both these amps, and I find the Maz to be a LOUD little amp. I think it's about as loud as the Remedy with the Rem on high power when run at similar distortion levels. Need to put the db meter on 'em to really see. Where did I put that thang? Must say: love this Remedy. It's a VERY versatile amp, clean to dirty, bright to dark, very responsive to your Tele's volume knob. Only had it less than a month, but loving it. I have a superb sounding vintage Marshall plexi (white plastic back plate) that is in for service. Soon to come: the A-B testing of these two dogs Mano y Mano. Will be interesting to see if the Rem really is very similar. I believe it will be reasonably close. Report to follow.

My Remedy And convertible cab are too heavy for me to haul amy more. I sold the cab but I can't sell the Remedy. I have a Z28 1x10 coming. I may just get another 1x10 for the Rem. For bigger venues use both 1x10 and the Rem. I usually play small venues That will give my bad back a brake. That Remedy is the best amp EVER. I bet the Z28 is killer too. As far as clean Headroom even on 1/2 power I play'' Sultains of Swing'' and ''Long TRain runnin''' I don't have a maz jr any more to compare it to. Rem Rules.

Wow, this is VERY surprising to me. I own both a MAZ jr with reverb and a Remedy. I run the MAZ 1x12 (g12h30) with a Z 2X10 ext cab and the Remedy into a pair of Mesa Thiele cabs (evm12L drivers). I had the MAZ dimed out the other day and thought to myself that it may not cut it with some of the guys I play with. The Remedy however had my neighbor calling me to please turn it down. Was at full power, eq was all noon as were the volumes. IThe volume that Remedy kicked out was just shy of psychotic!!
I will definitely have to revisit and AB the volume comparison on these two as I wasn't particularly trying to observe it before. I'll report back asap as well.

Well...After owning the Remedy for a week and a day, I've come to the conclusion that you were all correct. However, I think even at half power, the Remedy had quite a bit more depth and girth...more thump, if you will. That probably has a lot to do with the Gold and convertible cab than the Jr w/ blue combo set up. Either way...I love this amp and seems to sound better every time I plug it up! Thanks for all the info while I was in waiting

I miss it since now I am in Montana with my Air Brake and no Z..
