What is the best single 12 speaker to go with the Carmen Ghia. I have a Maz jr for my clean sounds so clean headroom is not a problem. The sound im looking for is darker more compressed and bassy. I believe the Maz will handle all my cleans and bright stuff. I mean not exactly but if I could think of any sound close to what Im hearing in my head that would be it. Also should I go for a closed back or open back cabinet? Any and all input is appreciated.

The Eminence Wizard or Celestion G12H-30 is a good choice for darker & compressed. I know the Webers are great speakers but I'm not too familiar with their sounds. I use a pair of Private Jacks which compress like a Greenback and what they lack in the low end the Zbest makes up for it. I'd go with a closed back if you want tight, focussed low end. Hope this helps..

Scumback H55 (pre-rola H30 clone with a 55hz cone)... this speaker would be PERFECT for what you describe... perfect perfect perfect. and I'm not just pushing it because I've got one for sale in the emporium, I'm really being sincere. As for the cab, the H30 style speakers work equally well in both open and closed back cabs, so it's really whatever you prefer. Open back lets the amp breathe more, closed back takes advantage of the Ghia's punchy low end. I personally prefer open back cabs or ported cabs. What style of music?

Well southern rock/country is the music that I like to play. But here lately Ive played anything from punk to metallica to guns and roses and the maz alone just wasnt cutting it. I dont wanna emmulate the sounds of them I wanna still have my sound. I was gonna run a maz jr and cg both thru the same 2 12 cab just have 1 speaker to 1 amp. I love the g12h with the maz jr and was looking for a good speaker that would go well with the cg.

People say a Celestion Blue is great with the Ghia but not in a closed back.

BTW, with the controls on the Ghia you can dial in the tones you are seeking with just about any speaker. Try it out before you start swapping speakers.

I have a 1x12 closed back cab with a well-broken-in Vintage 30 and it sounds nice with the Ghia.

I've been switchin' back and forth between the Swamp Thang and a Celestion G12-100H w/ a beamblocker, but I really don't need it w/ the Ghia. I had the good fortune to run my Ghia head thru Myles' Zbest in a big club we played, man it sounded great, but I wound up using Myles' Senior head w/ the airbrake on various settings. Wish I could have a Zbest every night on the road.

After playing the ghia I think a two ghia setup would be wonderful. I love this amp cause Im not constantly playing with knobs.

I got along w/ it real good, especially w/ the Ghia, but it didn't get along w/ our drummer very well. (go figure);^) We had a guy over in France setting our gear up every night and one night my rig mysteriously had a 'fortress' of road cases built up around it...

A DRUMMER complaing about the Ghia being too loud! That's some nerve.

well...wasn't the Ghia on that tour. It was the Senior, and w/ that Swamp Thang, I have to agree it was louder than hammered wolfdung.

I like the WeberVST C12MZ pretty well, that's what I've been using for a few years (wouldn't mind trying others as an experiment, but it's not in the card$ right now)...

I've been absolutely thrilled with a Celestion Blue in my Ghia combo. By the way, this was as per Mike Zaite recommendation. And of course, he was right!
