Has anyone tried a new production Tung-Sol 12AX7 (or any other Russian 12AX7) in V1. It made my Monza hum (60Hz) pretty loudly when the drive was cranked. The hum only increased/decreased via interaction with the Drive and not the Volume. The JJs seem to work fine - nearly inaudible hum. Thanks!

I really don't have any reason to mess with the tubes in my Monza 1x10 Combo, as the ones the Doc put in sound fantastic. I'm leavin it alone.

I actually did try a TungSol in V1; no hum issue, but it sounded a bit brittle and thin to my ear.

Yes, I tried the Tung-Sol in V1 in my maz 18 and my monza and got the hum. It was pretty loud. I thought maybe the tube was bad but since then I have tried 3 different ones, all with same result - a loud hum when the amp is at idle. I have experimented with a variety of pre-amp tubes and the Tung-Sol new production is the only one that does this. And in both my Maz18 and my Monza. I wonder why?
Interestingly, when I put a Tung in both V1 and V2 in my Maz18 the hum went away, but these made the Maz too bright for my taste so I took them out. I even tried different phase inverters, still no luck. Swapped power tubes as long shot - still the hum. In both amps. I am now using JJ's
