Hello, I'm new to this place. I just got my first Z a 6545! I really bought it for the 65 side. When I got it home, I started with the KT-45 side, taking it nice and slow. I really enjoy the many tones this thing has. I tried it with my Fulltone OCD and it is really great! I tried the 65 side and that is cool too. The 65 with the OCD.... well I just had to play to Van Halen 1 all the way through. ;D Take care...

Looks like I'll be the first to congratulate you - congratulations! I got mine for any number of reasons, but it started out for the 45 side, and the 65 side was a huge bonus - all that stuff in one handwired amp? Amazing, isn't it? I wouldn't go off and tell you to change things, but I eventually found my way to this: V1/V2: Brimar CV4004 V3: GEC EF86 V4: GT12AX7C MPI V5/V6: GTEL34S #5, at 28mA, measuring ~410V B+ V7: Phillips 5AR4 I tend to play mine warm and crunchy on the 45 side, and I tend to boost the mids and lean more toward a British sort of sound on the 65 side. With the two channels and the range/impact of all the controls, this may well be one of the most versatile handwired channel switching amp in the world (my world, at least ) I'm using a Z-Best or if I have to tone it down (don't annoy the singer too much), I'll go all the way down into a Mesa 1x12 with its stock 90W speaker. It's functional, but a letdown from the Z-Best. Whatever, gig's a gig sometimes. I use an Airbrake as well. Enough about me - have a great time and congratulations! Terry ps - I too played VH1 yesterday, but it was just the CD.

Congrats. I remember when I bought my 6545. My first Z as well. I had to carry it 2km from the store to the nearest bustop because my car broke down. I used the money I was going to fix the car with for the amp. Talk about devotion.
When I got it home I did the same thing. Start with the KT 45 and then let it rip with the SRZ 65. I'm still finding different sounds.
The problem now is I'm hooked on Z amps. I want another one, and another one, etc....

Congratulations on your 6545. I love mine and have found it to be the best amp I have ever used. I also have changed out the tubes and love it more than ever.
V1/V2: Brimar CV4004 V3: GEC EF86 V4: Brimar CV4004 (Balanced) V5/V6: GT-E34LS (Hardness 6) V7: JAN Philips/Sylvania 5AR4
With this tube combination I am able to get "that Tone" that has been stuck in my head for so long. Great amp I hope you enjoy as much as the rest of us fanatics do.
