Yes, folks, a match made in heaven. One that I hadn't explored yet and just discovered today as I was treading water for a couple of hours waiting for students who never showed up: The Remedy + Fender John Mayer Strat.
Delicious!
TMB settings: T = 12:30 ~ 1:00 M = 1:30 B = 10:00
High = 11:00 Normal = 9:30 ~ 10:00
Full power
Moderate use of the guitar's volume knob
Wow, such lush cleans. Then dig in, and it gives up some terrific grind. And the JM Strat's pickups are made for the Remedy! I had pretty much written off the Remedy as an OD monster because I have used it mostly with the LP. And when I used the Eric Johnson Strat I was slightly underwhelmed. But the JM + Remedy makes a glorious noise!

Hm... I couldn't get the link to work, but I'm really excited to hear it!

Woops, that DID look like a link didn't it? Sorry for the confusion. It wasn't a clip, just my attempt to hyperbolize!

Che, Which cab(s) did you use? Thanks. Mike Mike, It's the standard Z-Best. BTW, I've been playing that JM/Remedy combination a lot more since I first posted and doggone it what a beautiful combination! I've been playing a bunch of Strat songs - John Mayer stuff like "Gravity", Los Lonely Boys, Derek & the Dominoes stuff like "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad?", "Layla", "I Looked Away" etc. - it all sounds wonderful!

I look forward to giving it a whirl here with a couple Strats. Any thoughts on why the JM "beats" the EJ in this setup? Thanks, Che.

Good morning Mike, I might be making more out of the difference between JM and EJ than I should be, and truth be told I haven't given the EJ quite the work out with the Remedy that I have the JM. But the JM pickups are voiced differently - I think the claim is that they are a bit more scooped and richer in the low end, though I could be remembering incorrectly. In addition, my EJ has a maple neck/fingerboard while the JM has a rosewood fingerboard, which is doubtless adding to the richness of the tone I'm hearing. Before I paired the JM with the Remedy I was actually considering selling it because I have been playing the EJ at all my gigs. Now ... it's not going anyplace any time soon!
