A wise choice, you might as well save yourself some time and put your other gear in storage, you wont be using it for a while.

Yeah, if I could have waited I would have ordered red, but man your gonna be stoked. Black and Tan is gonna look killer!!! So, jellous yours is gonna show up all complete and mine is waiting for me to adopt the cab.
I plugged my Fulltone FB-2 into mine last night and O_YEAH!!!!! All the same tone, but now my volume nob on the guitar is in full working order the way I like it.
I'm tring to talk myself into ordering a 4x10 instead of buying a 2x10. Again the waiting is killing me. Everyday I waite the longer it's gonna take.
Yeah Fishman, your advise is a good one. I haven't even considered playing the Mesa. I have considered selling it, but not playing it.
DUDE YOUR GETTING A Z-28 O_YEAH!!!!!

I'm pretty comfortable saying the Z28 has knocked my beloved Stingray out of the top slot. It's the first amp that actually sounds good to my ears everytime in our basement rehearsal room, which is lots of concrete and cinderblock...and sounds spectacular out on the gig, especially once the tubes get good & hot. Other than the Ray, I've tried many amps and speaker configs down there with little success. Hope you enjoy your new amp, let us know what you think.

Bill, my 28 knocked everything I own out of the top slot, including my MAZ38 and the StingRay combo I had. Even my much loved Fenders were moved down the ladder. This is subject to change, but for now, and its been a while, the 28 is the amp of choice for me. A truly great amp by any standards at any price. I will venture to say this is one of Docs best efforts, if not the best effort. I have not played all the Zamps but I really have a hard time believing anything could sound better than this amp, in its class I believe its the best bang for the buck out there and would put it up against any amp in its pricerange or any amp in any price range...its that good... I think everyone should at least try one...I bought mine sight and sound unheard and was totally suprised right from the start. Once I got playing with it more , all sorts of cool sounds started showing up....I changed the rectifier tube and swapped the speaker for a RedFang....and POW....there it is.... I am not a salesman for Dr. Z or anything else but I would have no trouble recommending this amp to just about any one for any style, except the headbanging triple rectifier crowd. But if you are looking for a blues, classic rock, country, early marshall, fender and even Vox tones this amp can cover those sounds and a few more as well... This is the only amp that I have ever owned that the honeymoon phase seems to go on and on...... Killer amp is what I am trying to say in a 1000 words or less....

I ordered my 112 combo w/GB after trying a head and 112 cab. I love showing it to the skeptics for the first time. "No mid, master, reverb, only 2 preamp tubes and you payed how much?" which soon after the amp turns on turns into... "How do you get so many sounds out of three controls?"

funny thing is. It could be preset with Zero nobs at 12,12,3 and be one of the greatest sounding amps of all time.

I agree, it could very well be set up 12=12=3 with no controls on the front at all...just a volume knob on the back.... now that would be one cool ss "Shane" looking amp...can you imagine the looks/questions that would generate? I find it hard to belive that this amp still is a bit of a sleeper, I have not heard of anyone that owns one that does not love it....thats why there are not alot of them for sale I would imagine. I think all the owners of 28's should now buy everyone ever made and that ever will be made...then, we will control the market, then we will ask 17K like Dum)&*)( and get it! HA>>> No doubt of it, a fantastic amplifier that can hang with the best of them...

The Z-28 is without a doubt, the best amp I have ever owned. It is seemingly incapable of sounding bad. I have 2 other Z amps and have had a bunch of Fender, Soldano, etc, but this one is just magical in a way that none of the others are. Ugh it sounds so good it makes me sick...

I just picked my used 2x10 Z-28 combo up out of layaway yesterday on my way home from work. I didn't get near enough time to mess with it but so far I like it even better than when I played it in the store. Mine is blond with the sort of brown and gold grill cloth (like Fishman's avatar).
I have to admit that it's a good thing I knew how the tone controls acted before I went in to play the amp because it's much more versatile than it first appears and I generally wouldn't go through the entire range of the tone controls when messing around with an amp in a music store.
Congrats.

O-Milo the fun is just beginning.
I will say I used to judge all amps to the Soldano ROS. I now judge everything to the Z-28.
The Z-28 is simply amazing amp. Everytime I jam I get told how great that amps sound. That's mainly comming from the guy playing the Soldano.
Not to fly my own flag, but I have seen so much live music here in the S.Fla area that I can say we have the best tone. While other have one great player and tone, but not two guys with nothing but tone in everything you hear.

My z28 1x12 combo with my 70's es335 (w/lollars) is an amazing match. Seriously, I barely have to play the thing, just the same riff over and over nuanced and it just puts you in dream land. I remember when I first matched them up and the members in my pseudo jam band commented I was playing great that night.... not really - my rig was just sounding rediculous - I let it do all the work.
