Does anyone know it pretty well? I have spent the last month trying to dig up anything about my amp and am not getting anywhere. I am specifically interested in the prototypes. Does anybody know how many were made. I was told that weren't any records back that far.
Thanks in advance! Mike

It was one of the First Designs , I think the Ghia was first but The SRZ I think was one of the FLAGSHIP Designs in the HIGH GAIN dept ANYWAY? . If you go to the welcome page of the forum it has a section called ,Z Info or Z dating? it HAS SOME INFO in that I beleive. I had an opportunity to buy an Old SRZ RC 1x12 at my local music store but didnt have the funds. ((( That was RARE! I think it was a 91' maybe 93' it had a V30 Celstion in it. Good luck, Let me know what you find, I love my SRZ its hands down my Favorite, but The Stangray is right there with it, I wish I could both of these amps in one BOX!!!!! Man it would be awesome!

That was part of the problem I am having. Mine was made before he started the letter serial numbers. It has a serial of 006. I did have it confirmed that it was the sixth one he made but still couldn't find any more info than that.

What Model Do you Have a Head Or Combo? Regardless its an awesome AMP! Does it have the Large Z Logo? You can see mine on some of my SRZ posts or in my AVATAR PICT, Its got the Mahogany Front, Foot switchable Reverb, Its pretty Kick A$$ in the rock-n-roll Heavy Blues Camp for Sure! I use mine with several pedals, I run it with the gain set around noon and dont ever run the volume past 10;00 on the dial. SRV To Zeppelin to Nickle Back Its there especially with a 4x12 cab been using a 1x12 or sometimes the 2x2 comes out. Through an 8" speaker it would sound good! Congrats on such an early SRZ!

It's a head. It has reverb and an effects loop. I really love the sound. One of the coolest things that is different about mine is that the wood panel comes off so I can get to the rectifier quickly. I tend to switch between SS and Tube a lot. Wish I had a better picture of it on this computer... I will try and get better images tomorrow.

The description of tone is making me sweat. This is what I need to meet my requirements. Now I just need to find one to try out.

Well, Matty6strings, The old ones have a Certain MOJO! ) The RI are good but these large box ones are the Reall Deal. Mine looks the same as the picture but my Wood front is a bit darker! I have never tried with that SS Rectifier but would like to do so! If you're looking for more Plexish tone the KT-77's in the SRZ are the way to go. I can use myy SRZ and cover everything form Blues To rock! and even Country woith the right Speaker. Go to the Video section and somewhere theres a Post a friend of mine put on there running straight in the amp it's Titled, MY 96' SRZ! Its awesome or you can find it on you tube just type in Video Posts from Roknfknrol !

Thanks a lot for the reply! I really liked the remedy clips he posted as well. Sheesh. I guess I'll start with the Remedy as there is one still available at the local store that I should be able to go home with.

My serial # is 007 and Doc said it was the 7th one made. It is a 2-12 reverb combo w green backs. Born in 1991 and still sounds awesome!

Well, I love my amp but like many of us, the Remedy is sooo tempting! I eventually want a head/cab set up as my combo is pretty hefty, 65 watts is a lot of unused head room for my needs.

It's funny how ours were built one right after another and are completely different. I heard that Walsh had number 005. How long have you had yours if you don't mind my asking? Mike

For about 5 years. I haven't babied it as far as gigs go and it has been a true work horse! Not sure how many 2:30 A.m. loading and unloading sessions we've had, but quite a few and it just keeps on sounding great. The only amp I would even think about replacing it with would be a lighter weight Remedy head and 2-12 cab set up. I've always used OD and clean boost pedals as I like to set it fairly clean with a little gravel with the guitar volume maxed. I've never had the Volume above 4 for any situation or gig so there's alot left as far as head room it concerned that I haven't used. It is a beast and has a cool old school look with the hard wood face plate, big Z logo and metal grill. Haven't been sorry one gig that I bought this amp!
