I've been reading postings about how hard these Z28 heads are to come by. I found mine by accident sat in a quiet corner of Mansons Guitars in Exeter, UK. It was being played by a young gun playing out of tune chords on a cheap Chinese guitar and it still sounded great. He didn't look impressed. I'd only ever heard them on recordings of Brad P and BW (with Mayall) and it's the first one I'd seen for real.
The thing is it seems most guitar players want amps with loads of knobs and big impressive cabs so this little old Z28 with only 3 knobs on a small 1x12 cab didn't look the part. He moved on to some big Marshall thing that sound half as good and cost about the same.
I might just be getting old, but it's the simplicity and unbelievable tone that made it mine, all mine. Every time I fire it up with my Tele, no effects, no verb, just a big grin from ear to ear.
Thanks DRZ

The nob thing is funny, no?
I stopped playing my Mesa Maverick {like 12 nobs} to play a Fender Musicmaster Bass amp I modded. Two nobs and one basic sound. I like the interaction much better than the Mesa.
I'm seriously hoping my Z-28 is everything this Fender is but a 100-200% upgrade.

What's even funnier is my MkIII Mesa has got more knobs ROUND THE BACK than the Z28 has on the front. It's like anything else;effects, fancy guitars, digital amps like the POD and all that stuff. If it's there your gonna fiddle with it. I've found it all gets in the way of that interaction.

Mine will be here Friday. I just put the last screw in a kick arse little 1X12 cab loaded w a V30 I just made. I played my Maz thru it and it sounded great so...something tells me this amp is going to be just the right match with the Maz. Well see...........
