I've got a question: One of my altime favorite tones was Paul Kossoff in his prime. Of course, he we playing on 1959 & 1960 Les Pauls. But I've also read that he favored Marshall Super Bass amplifiers. It makes sense because he played pretty clean. But when he switched to the bridge pick-up and turned up the guitar he got this beautiful, singing sustain which - combined with his slow paced, wide range vibrato - produced some of my all time favorite electric guitar sounds. The thing about it was, he still stayed really clean - especially by later standards. But was able to get that beautiful sustain.
Now, I can get a vintage Marshall Super Bass or a modern clone (from several different companies). But I kinda like the good Dr.'s products. So I was wondering: Can the remedy do Koss & his Super Bass?
BTW, if you haven't seen them, check out free live on youtube. there's a great series of tunes they played in a studio with a live audience. All Koss uses is the pick-up switch and volune knob. Nice....

Frank, I noticed that no one responded to you. From what Bent has said about the Remedy is it's not clean enough for his clean tone. I played through a Marshall Major about a week ago to see what it was like and would guess it was more of what your describing than anything I heard people say about the Remedy. This bing the reason I'm hot after a Remedy. I'm not much of a clean clean guy. Rasy clean is more like me.
Anyway, enojy.

I don't own a Remedy, but have spent time auditioning a couple of them. I would say if you are looking for clean/headroom Marshall type sounds, the Remedy is NOT the way to go. Don't get me wrong. It is one heck of an amp, with very useable and wide ranging tones, from semi-clean to crunch to higher gain tones. But really, if you are looking for the ultimate headroom Marshall sounds, you are probably going to want a 50 or 100 watt Marshall or clone.
A Germino Classic 45 gives up pretty great cleans, but not a whole lot more than a Remedy. I would suggest the Germino Headroom 100- that would be a great purchase.
Other options- Hiwatt 100 watt, Marshall Super Lead Plexi, Reeves Custom 100, etc.
Dr. Z Remedy is awesome. I would get a 100 watt Germino for cleans and a Dr. Z Remedy for lead sounds. Set right, this rig could work on some stages.
I presume you are either not using these in a live setting (100 watt Marshall amps just blow out any small stage) or that you are playing pretty large venues. Volume warning here...trust me...Best of luck!

Frank,
Something you might want to consider, although they're hard to find, would be the Delta 88. It's got a Marshall Major thing kinda going on. It gives great classic rock tones in the vein of Kossoff, et al.
Check out some of the threads in the Delta 88 section. It may be what you're looking for in the Z Line for those tones.

A Route 66 would get you close to the Kossoff sounds franky.
