heres the selection-----NOS 5Y3GT JAN Phillips 5751 EH Gold Pin 12AX7 (my first try at this tube and i like it!) 2 Sovtek EL-84's (I really dig these)
The amp sounds sweet.....its been about a year since I got it, so it was time for a retube. Wow! what a difference it makes.....i don't think it ever sounded so good!!!
On a side note, go get Derek Truck's new album......its really wondferful

Try to borrow a set of JJ EL84s in a #6 rating. You may find them less dark then the Sovteks ... it may sound as if a felt grillcloth was removed from the amp.

I wouldn't mind if my Ghia was a little darker. I might try some Sovteks.

Yeah, really not a good idea. Do a search on either this forum or TGP for more info. Really, REALLY not a good idea if you like you amp. At the very least you'll roast through power tubes at a really not-so-fun rate.

well your side not is right on. Derek Trucks CD "songlines" may be the best offering Ive heard all year. Derek is playing lead for the Allman Brothers Band, Eric Clapton's US tour, and his own band. The songs "CrowJane" and "Sailing on" are truly masterpieces. Chip
