I've been running mine into a Jenkins 112 semi-open with a 12" weber ceramic Blue Dog. Love the tones, but could often use a little more thickness and bass (without cranking the bass control on the amp---need the headroom!)
I'm considering a setup where I can run into a 15, but I don't have a lot of experience with them. I have a DeltaBlues 115 but that's a completely different amp... I would need something VERY efficient because the Z28 is already at the cusp of not being loud enough for my band.
Any suggestions or experiences you've had?

I never used a 15 but I played mine through an Eminence Tonker (12) a few times...that speaker will make ya think youve got a Twin behind ya! Swamp Thing might have even more bass...might be worth a try before you go invest in a 15" cab.

That'd be fun to try out...

Just hook your head to the Peavey 15". Those aren't bad sounding speakers and that'll give you an idea. I'm going to use a 15" JBL this weekend. It's a little bright but sounds so big and round, I love good speakers.

Using the cab you've got, I second the idea of trying a Tonker or Swamp Thang. If you like the sound of your existing cab and don't mind buying a bigger one, the Z-Best cab sounds monstrous. Mine is really thick and punchy. Another really thick-sounding 2x12 is the Zinky.
Your post brings to mind that I've never heard my Z-28 with a 1x12 cabinet. That would be interesting. I think of the Z-28 as being a really thick-sounding amp, which might be partly because of the 2x12 cabinets I play it through. Cabs make such a difference!

I bought a pair of Dr. Z 10"s from a Forum member and built a 2-10 extension cab for my Z-28 2-10. I sounds great! Doesn't add much volume, but moves a lot more air than the amp alone.
I also have a Delta Blues 1-15. I put an Eminence Big Ben it it. Great improvement over the Blue Marvel. I have used the 2-10 from my Z under the Delta Blues a few times. Great sound! It broadens the range of the amp a lot. I suspect that a really good 15" speaker would work great with the Z-28.
