Can anyone comment if there is any difference in the original long box SRZ, the LE or the new re-issue? Has the circuit and components remained the same or has it evolved each time? I was checking out ebay and there is an LE #12 with an asking price of $1200. About two weeks ago there was an early long box and the guy was looking for $2500. If the circuit has evolved I can see a price difference but I am not one to pay more because it is older and may be a collector piece some day. So..... any input would be appreciated. Merks.

I was waiting for you to jump in on this, Jamie, as you are the only one I know of who has the long-box. And as you stated about it having reverb, the circuits must have some variation. Perhaps it's only like the difference between the MAZ Jr and MAZ Jr NR, but there would almost have to be some tonal differences between the original long-box and the LE and RI. As for the LE and RI, the major difference would be the striking good looks of the two-tone silver face LE... ;D Hey Jamie, Karma for you being the only guy I know of w/ a long-box SRZ (besides Joe Walsh of course!).

Thanks Rich! I dont know if I told you but, I had the doc do a Footswitchable Reverb mod , with a stomp of the foot it takes that 12AT7 right out of the circuit and gives me that more JTM /SUPER LEAD TONE!!!! with the gain set on 2 oclock it will clean up with just a lil hair on it then with a BB or a Timmy its ala, in your face AC/DC meets Buckcherry and with the 4x12 its Modern rock with every note, string and the wood pouring tone out of it!!! I will never let it go, One day it will be worth $$$ if it already hasnt jumped up there! I would love to have another one! the LE with the RED/Silver Color scheme! They are Bad A$$!!! Regardless, if it says DR Z! It Rocks or Sings but of it says SRZ? IT"S THE REAL DEAL, Can you tell I love my SRZ? My Ray will get into some killer rock tones too, I m awaiting some NOS tubes that are gonna give me that Fast Break up, Another Legendary amp, Hell All DR Z's are Master peices! I want a MONZA and a Remedy! Their coming soon! ))) ))))

I have one of the prototypes that he made somewhere in between 89 and 91. I heard it was the one he made after Walsh's. The reverb control is on the back of mine. Built like a tank. Not sure how many long boxes there are but depending on the year I can imagine 2500 being worth it. Great amp.

That's AWESOME mikeseligman!!! I had an opprtunity to buy a 1x12 Combo, I had never heard of of a 1x12 but it was here at my hometown local fav music store and it was gone before I could get there! It had a V30 in it and Reverb and an FX loop which not a fan of the FX Loops ! MY SRZ is a 96' long Box Mahogany Front, NOS TUNG-SOL EL34's RCA Black plate 7025"s 12ax7's and Sylvania 12AT7 Reverb tube and old Mullard GZ34 , Its Pure Heavenly Tone!!!!!

I wish I had heard a few more. I don't know how different mine is. The original question is awesome. It's funny hearing people talk about the amp. Mine has a ton of headroom, almost to the point of being a clean amp.
Muzac, does your front panel come off? I can't tell from your pic.
