Alright, I just bought Z-28 1x12 combo (which is amazing btw!!) and since I use reverb all the time, I'm looking for a nice mate for my amp. I currently have an EHX Holy Grail, but it hasn't totally satisfied me. I have been looking around and am interested in the Vanamps reverbs and the T Rex Roommate, but I am open for suggestions. I'd like to keep this purchase under $400 and in a relatively small box, but can be flexible for the sake of tone! Let the suggestions begin...

Uncle Spot makes a very good (so I hear) all tube Fender style spring reverb tank, but it's slighty out of your price range.

Van-Amps Soul-Mate - It sound's awesome and I think it's under 3 bills. I use one with my Carmen Ghia and love it.

Alright, I've done some more research and I think I've narrowed it down to three...
All three have pretty big price differences
Vanamps Solemate $259
T Rex Roommate $369
Uncle Spot $575
I'm now confused as to which I should buy. Are the more exspensive ones really worth the greater charge? I realize that the Uncle Spot is a tube unit. I play mostly indie rock stuff, blues a la SRV, and pop a la John Mayer. I dont think I'll be playing **** Dale anytime soon. Any more in depth opinions from anyone or those who have tried or A/B'ed more than one on my list? Thanks!

Only played the Roommate @ Dave's. Blew me away. BW was there and felt the same way, made the Mazaratti sound like a Vintage Fender with onboard 'verb.
I will by a Roommate.

I was once jonesing for verb and started with the EH HG............thought it twas a bit fake and chincy sounding. Then I jonesed for an Uncle Spot. Then the roomate came out and I took a chance and bought it. The result is that my reverb Jones is now gone. So for$200 less, I solved that GAS issue. It's totally worth it.........all I can say is it will fill your need for verb forever!

That's good to hear...honestly I think I'm most intrigued by the Roommate anyways...much smaller footprint than the other two also!

The EBS Dynaverb sounds awesome - I think it's marketed as a bass reverb - funny I think it's under 2 bills - although I'm not sure if they still make it. The Soul- Mate is a bit klunky, but it's awesome! I absolutely love mine!

Dynaverb is 249.00 at Musicians Friend. I chose it over other units based strictly on recommendations from this forum. It is marketed as a bass reverb but it sounds fantastic. It is the same size as the Xotic BB and built like a tank. Made in Sweden.

I have a Van Amps Sole-Mate if yer interested, like new-only used in the studio. About 5 months old. I used this with my Stang Ray head, sold here last week. I have Kendrick and Fender tanks so I'm pretty well covered for reverb. Size-wise, it fits in your gig bag. I typically put it behind the amp out of the way. Set it and forget it! $200.00 shipped to lower 48 PayPal only

The Sole-Mate sounds exactly like a spring reverb ought to sound.
