Hello everyone well I finally bit the bullet and pulled the trigger on a Dr Z 4/10 cab.
Thanks to Highway61South for a awesome deal on it BTW.
At first when I got it home I A/B it with the Z-Best and was a little nervous cause in all honesty its hard to beat the Z-Best/Remedy combination it's like they were made for each other like a Marshall Plexi and a 4/12 Cab. Still, I had to keep in mind I was in my tiny studio.
In that setting they both sounded great however the Z-Best has that shimmer and
quality tone that is very smooth and focused and the low end is about as close to a 4/12
as you can get with two speakers IMHO the sound of the Z-Best is just very precise and pristine.
I was hoping once I got a chance to get the 4/10 in a bigger room it would surprise me.
Well today I got a chance to hear it at Church and was pleasantly surprised.
The 4/10 was everything I was hoping for in that setting...
The 4/10 produced some nice warm mids, smooth treble, and tight bass tones.
Plus I didn't even have to crank up the Remedy I had it on the 20 watt setting.
With the extra speakers I was able to finally hear myself in the tight space we have to play in. ( They pack us in like sardines)
The 4/10 is 3D like in nature. Almost like surround sound it's very full and big sounding
and with the Remedy it sounded like a bassman on steroids.
Much clearer though... I was able to get some really nice slightly broke up funk style licks
going and it just seemed to blend in with the hammond B3 and the Motif better.
All I can say is that no doubt about it the Z-Best is the perfect cab for the Remedy.
But don't count out the 4/10 it has some mojo of it's own that I have to give it it's props on.
You just can't go wrong with any of the Dr Z cabs..
Now what sucks is I have to get another Z Head to go with all these cabs I have! ;D ;D
