So I had just picked up a blues junior the other day, and wanted to replace those crappy white label fender groove tubes with somethin better. At the same time, the good el-84's in my ghia were startin to get a little microphonic. Just to have somethin in there, I threw the cheap GT's in thr ghia....WOW.....maybe im crazy, but i swear its the best the amp ever soiunded! No more harsh edge, it takes pedals better than ever, and its a little softer volume wise....Am I crazy, or is there a reason for this?....Anyway, if you've got a stock Blues Junior at home, try those El84's in the Ghia for some very suprising results.

Those stock tubes are the GT-EL84R or ... Russian Sovteks. They make amps sound as if a blanket was toss over them but if your Ghia was too bright for your tastes these would have tamed the brightness. What color is the Fender printing on them? If blue ... they are low range .... 1-3 If white they are mid range 4-7 and this is what the Doc uses in the EL84S tube. If they have red printing (not the GT orange which is not used for Fender stock), then they are 8-10 range and would be very strong tubes with the most clean headroom.

they have a white label...so im assuming they are mid powered. its weird, the amp seems to like my overdrive pedals a little more now........i also just switched from a vintage 30 in a 1x12 to a g12h in a 1x12...maybe that changed things too. either way, i am loving my ghia now!
