Howdy all. Due to a never-ending case of amp GAS (exacerbated by reading threads on this board), I just picked up a lightly used KT-45 and expect delivery next week. Looking for something to fill my EL34 gap in the arsenal in the big clean chimey Hiwatt vein, as opposed to the crunchy Marshall vein. I have EL84 amps, 6V6 amps, and 6L6 amps, but no EL34 amp. I was feeling inadequate.
Will check back in with my first impressions. Cheers.

Please do so. This is an awesome amp, and I wish there was a bit more discussion of it. I have even had moments of considering selling my matchless c30, as the KT45 is 'it and a bit' at the moment Especially with the 535 (haven't given the other guitars a fair go....) What ever you do though, don't go putting power tubes in without the spine matched up perfectly (eg jjs are small and fit where they shouldn't), and you won't have to replace power resisters and fuses and tubes and stuff....... jus saying in case you were thinking of putting them in wrong......... I wouldn't even think of doing anything like that late on a monday evening....... just lucky Brent was working on the other side of the world........ And siemens el34s sound fantastic, but make sure that you talk to Mike from KNOS first and have the plate voltage at a respectable level for them......... I love this amp with alnico speakers. Weber blue 15" and 210 with celestion golds are both devine. About to get a couple of 10" greenbacks to play around with and mix about as well. We've got guitar stores over here with less stuff than you've got, so I'll be real interested to see what you like the most with it. Interested to know how you like the 660-12 through it clean and jangly mean....... Let all hell break loose, you're in for a fun ride

Thanks timford. I've never been afraid to turn one up.
Don't know what tubes it will come with. Will assess when it gets here. I might very well be placing yet another order with Mike K.
Interesting you say that about the alnicos. I have a Celestion Gold residing in my D13 amp (which is glorious) that I could borrow for experimentation purposes, but more conveniently, I have an Emi Red Fang and a Wizard in the 2x12 cab (JDesign Bluesbreaker style, open back) that this head will sit on top of. Wizard is not yet broken in and is a bit stiff; KT45 should be able to rectify that. May look for a G12-65 style speaker as well.
Later...

Come on.... it's biased now, so what do you think so far (and saying that, I was happier after about a week when I had done a lot of experimenting and found things I liked a lot, and things I liked more).

No opinion yet as I have only had it on last night for about 60 seconds with my PRS DGT plugged in to confirm that it was not DOA. Then I checked all the tubes and bias per the other thread. One thing I can tell after a mere 60 seconds is that it is going to be LOUD. I also don't hear any of the excessive top end that some posters reported in other threads. Sounds warm and clean to me.
Should have a chance to try it out this weekend with a variety of guitars through the 2x12 cab mentioned above and will report back. I have a Weber version of a G12-65 coming that I will experiment with as well.
