Well I had very little time this evening but I wanted to record the Ghia. I probably should have waited because this is sloppy as hell and I was plagued with problems because of it. I quickly downloaded a blues backing track which was in mp3, and forgot that my recording program doesn't like that format so it will sort of skip because it can't properly grab where the tempo is. Well I only did one take and I noticed it but thought it was the buffer and normally if you just ignore it, things are ok when you are done recording. Well because I forgot to turn off the backing track as the master it had weird little short skips in it and it's annoying to listen to. And I couldn't sync the WAV version of the backing track because while I was playing I adjusted for the tempo offset with out thinking about it. So long story short I put up just the guitar, no backing track, and no doubt you will notice some timing issues but that's cause I was compensating for the messed up backing and was in time with the skipping track. Anyway, enough of my whining. My Z 2x10 cab has not arrived yet so I ran it through the cab of my Traynor YCV40T loaded with a Weber 10A125 and 10F150. I close mic'd the 10A125 with an SM58, off-axis near the edge of the dust cap(panned hard left). Then I put an MXL960 tube condenser a few feet back aimed at the 10F150(panned hard right). I was playing an epiphone Wildkat. Part way in I kick on a Visual Sound Double trouble, first one channel then the other. Delay is from a Danelectro reel echo. soundclick.com/share?songid=8926498

on second thought, I'll wait until I have more time and put something decent up. Sorry for the fake out.

Aw, man! Don't wait until it's perfect to post. It isn't like that around here. I post some slop from time to time and it's all good because we're all just a bunch of gear heads that love hearing Z Amps. No need for excuses - crank it up - lay it down - load it up.
Dig. Dug. Done.
Post away, brother! Eddie

Well thank you for the encouraging words Eddie. I did a few this evening. Still some clams on my part but way better now that I fixed the sync issue. The Wildkat with P-90's soundclick.com/share?songid=8934518The Gretsch 6120ssu soundclick.com/share?songid=8934519And a version of Sleepwalk I threw down. soundclick.com/share?songid=8934520They aren't perfect, which bothers me, but I am trying to work past that and just let things be what they are. I have an obsessive nature when it come to recording, or playing in general, which is good in some cases band in others. Both speakers were close mic'd with SM58's. 10A125 panned hard left and 10F150 panned hard right. No compression or effects added so it gets louder with the overdrive on. And I didn't compensate for the volume changes, this is as straight up as it gets. Danelectro Reel echo was on the whole time and overdrive was Visual sound Double Trouble kicked in part was through for a boost then more overdrive. Hope you enjoy the Carmen Ghia goodness. I know I am loving it! Bedtime for me, I have to play 6 hours worth of gigs tmm between 2 bands.....Rock On!

Now that Wildcat w/ P90's piece is the TONE! Fat and complex even when it was cleaner toward the beginning.
The second clip sounds like you were even more relaxed and having fun. Nice trem shimmers too.
Sleepwalk has a beautiful growl on the opening chords. I downloaded that one - iPod worthy.
Thoroughly enjoyed those! Eddie

Wow, thanks guys. I really appreciate that. Especially knowing the caliber of players that are on this board.
I know I'm pretty critical of my playing, maybe too much so at times, but that's kind of what drives me to practice and get better. And it can always be better right, unless you are Brent Mason or one of those freaks...haha
Ya, the Wildkat has a tone all it's own, only reason I have hung on to that guitar. That was the first electric guitar I ever bought. It was off ebay for $265. But the ends of some of the frets were lifted, which I fixed many of and the action is a little high. But every time I think of selling it I play it and I can't bare to part with it. Now for me, I love the 6120. My absolute favorite guitar. I love the woody clear tone it has. I think it is an unbelievable match with the Ghia. The first gig I played with a country/southern rock band here was with the 6120 and Ghia, they were absolutely floored by the sound. So huge and really carried.
I'm sure more recordings will be coming in the future. Thanks again guys.
Jason

Thank you very much.
Actually the new version is recorded with 2 Sennheiser e822s mics. The SM58's I had were part of a gear rental I had on some bigger PA equipment.
