I recently acquired a Z-28 head and have been running it with one of two 212 cabinets that I own: An Avatar w/Celestion Blue & G12H-30...Closed back An Avatar w/Weber Blue Dog & Silver Bell...30 Watt...Open back I would like to keep the closed back combo as is to run with my Maz 18 NR, but I would like to experiment with some more 'American' type speakers in the other cab. Any of you folks have any suggestions or particular speakers you've tried? Any of the Webers or Jensens or maybe the Emi Patriots? I'm open and I just think the 6v6s would be interesting with a more 'american' speaker... Cheers!

I played my Z28 once through the AlNiCo Weber speakers from a Victoria Double Deluxe.
Sounded Badass!!

Jensen P-12 R's have worked really good for me with Z-28, MAZ 18 Jr and the Ghia. I put 'em in old Fender Bassman cabinets. I also pull the fiberglass out of those cabs.

Roscoe! One of my geetar heros! Seen you with the Dukes several times...Still wishing the Yahoos would hit Minneapolis and looking forward to the new record. Back to the topic: I am currently using a Weber P12NT with a Reverend Alltone and believe I found a bit of happiness...Well, I am a guitar hack so my happiness lasts about 12 hours....Maybe the P12Rs will be next? Raisin' a glass to ya' brother! Cheers!

Roscoe ? I saw you twice in The Netherlands with the Del Lords. As far as I remember (it must be about 15 years ago) one gig was in Zaandam and the other in either Paradiso or De Melkweg , Amsterdam.

I play my z28 thru a weber 12A150 that I mounted in an old gutted PV Special 150 cabinet - best tone I've ever had.

I'm a big fan of the alnico Tone Tubby. They are real expensive at $240 but the Cannabis Rex Eminence uses the same cone and it's way less dinero.

I'm using the Z 2x10 cab with my Z28 "by default," but I've experimented with plugging into my Victorilux's Jenson P12Qs (at 4 Ohms), as well as running the 2x10 parallel with a half-closed-back Mesa 1x12 w/ that 90W Celestion - I don't know what that speaker is, but the label says "Black Widow" or something - I recall that it's an OEM thing of some sort. The setup was nice, but I'm sticking with the Z speakers.
