Hi all Rt.66 ers!
I have been using my 66 for about 8 years through a Marshall Vintage Reissue cab 16ohm with 30w celestions...the sound is great but is a bit muffled and choked sounding...I always keep tubes and such in perfect working order....i am thinking of getting the Z Best cab...does anyone know if it will sound a bit more open than my current Marshall cab?
Thanks..this is my first post!

DC here! First:I don't own a Marshall or Z-Best cab. I have the 2x10" cab new design. Second:Yes in all likelyhood - the Z-Best is Thieleported/tuned long throw cab == good projection. I surmise your Marshall cab is the typical 4x12" closed variant. The closed Marshall cabs can sound a bit choked - to my ears at least. As if some of the sound stays inside the cab instead o projecting outwards. (YMMV ) Cheers: Dixiechicken!

Not sure about the Marshall cab but I ran my 66 through VHT 4x12 and it was quite tight and LOUD ... the VHT was loaded with Eminence speakers. I wanted something smaller to lug to gigs and a bit less loud so I got the Z-Best. The Z-Best sounds amazing with the 66, a touch more bass probably due to the ported design, it's not as "tight" as the 4x12 but I like that, the looser bass gives it a bit more airy character. The V30, G12H combo seems to work very nice and don't be fooled, this is a LOUD cab ... not as loud as my 4x12 but louder then any 2x12 I've ever played.

The Z best is a killer cab no doubt about it.

What speakers in the Marshall...? I have a '60's straight 4x12" with 20-watt Celestions that sounds amazing with the 66.
