Will one of the xotic pedals add some top end to the 66? Which one would you suggest?

will a RC booster add some high end presence? Yes, RC booster is great for adding some high end to Route 66 or any other amp for that matter, without changing your base sound or adding more dirt.

I leave my RC booster on all the time when playing through the 66.

+1 for the RC Booster. I leave mine on all the time as well.

I'm lucky enough to have a Route 66 in my rehearsal studio. But I was initially missing some top end I had on my other amps. The RC Booster does a beautiful job with this. Adding treble will get me some nice clean twang. And by maxing the gain I can get more crunch at lower volumes. A must have pedal for me.

Turning down the bass will enhance the upper mids and highs. The tone controls trully are interactive.
Depending on the speaker and cabinet, I move the bass from about noon to 3:30.
I think a lot of people (myself included) tend to focus on the frequency we're changing. It's only natural. But with the 66, it changes other frequencies.
This may not be for everyone, and they may be looking for more of 'something'.

I have been useing my 66 for around 5 years. Tubes are new, I just want a little more bite, or air on the top end. I play it trough a Z-Best cab.

Try an open back cabinet.
Z-best is awesome...especially bass response, but an open back will accentuate the highs.

+1 on the open-back cab suggestion. I recently got a Route 66 and had been playing it through a closed-back Bogner Cube with a G12H30 in it. I found it a bit dark for my purposes. I've since picked up an Avatar Vintage 112 (again with a G12H) open-back and was very pleased when I tried the 66 through it. It definitely opened up the top considerably yet still had plenty of bass and low mids. Much more usable for my situation.

Yep I use my 2x12 open back with the RT66 90% of the time.. When I am doing a louder gig I take my 4x12 and have to add a little more treble on the amp and sometimes pull the bass back...
Cheers

I have an open back Avatar with two Celestion Blues in it. Sounds great, no lack of top end with singles coils or humbuckers.

To me RC booster, even if setted with both knobs flat, adds some trebs... I find it very useful for humbuckers

RC acts as a great buffer on it's own and what you hear is the restored highs that are being lost due to the cable length and capacitance. So it technically does not "add" treble, it just preserves what's already there but gets lost. ;D
