I'd suggest to the aforementioned "blues purists" to listen with their ears and not their eyes... Why should they care if you have 20 pedals or no pedals?
Cheers

Now that's the best advice I heard yet! I'm going to say that next time I hear a snicker! Thanks!

Yeah, but who plays funk nowadays anyway? :-) Brad (Who thinks Bootsy is STILL the funkiest mofo ever...) I know if I was in a funk band, I wouldn't be playing my Route 66.

I could do funk with my 66 if I used my JBL or other bright speaker and a guitar with low output single coils.

We do a couple of funk songs in my band. The Route handles that with ease.
With a little bit of hair and compressor - you'll get the perfect sound for the opening guitar-riff of the Wild Cherry hit "Play That Funky MUsic" - as an example. It's all in the wrist ;D

Dixiechicken: You got that right on Play That Funky Music! My 66 can nail that exact lead sound. Man you guys have to hear the new Eventide Timefactor through this baby along with a Fulltone OCD and '69 Fuzz. It can produce anything from that to Gilmour to Jimi in spades.

Hey DC, Here's that clip I promised using the new EventideTimeFactor Stomp box delay/modulator. It's a bit sloppy but didn't have time to clean it up so I'm adjusting in between settings and sometimes gets a tad muddy at times, especially when engaging the Fulltone '69 Fuzz which when dimed gets a little too much compression when coupled with the OCD but oh! the sweet infinite sustain! I start by playing the amp clean and then with Eventide on delay, then with OCD and Fuzz later added and then the modulator setting sounds kind of like a Uni-Vibe but more like a Leslie though it could pass for a U-Vibe, then later with the wah. Equipment used: Fender Highway 1 Strat rosewoodneck Custom '60s pickups from a '60s Nocaster Dr Z Route 66 Head 2x12 Celstion G12C speakers (as used in Vintage Modern&JH100 Hendrix Stack) Fulltone OCD Fulltone '69 Fuzz Eventoide TimeFactor Stomp Box delay/modulator Dunlop Authentic Hendrix Wah Sound clip areyouexperienced.net/music/Eventide-TimeFactor-Dr-Z-Route-66.mp3

That's a nice sounding delay, I liked the weird modulated delays that sounded a bit like a leslie cab - also really cool riff at the end with the wah going on.
Is there things that you particularly like about this pedal and is there anything you find less than practical? What's your take on it?.
Cheers: Dixiechicken!

Thanks DC. I just love everything about the pedal except having to go all the way up to the 10th preset and starting back on 1-2-3 to get to where I want o be. For example, there's there's long multi delay at preset Patch 1. You have 2 presets on each of 10 banks. So if you kick the left footswitch you have Bank 1-Preset 1 or middle footswitch is Bank 1-Preset 2 and so on. So I like this one Stevie Ray one on Bank 2 Preset 2 and then this cool Echoplex-reverb type delay on Bank 5 preset 1 and the Uni-vibish sound on Bank 5 preset 2. So I usualy just alternate between those 2 settings and if I want to go back down to Bank 2 preset 2 to get the Stevie Ray/Leslie sound I have to press the right footswitch 7 times to cycle up to 10 and then up to number 2 and then press the middle footswitch to get that Stevie tone. There's only 3 prests that I gravitate towards so the rest are kind of useless to me but the ones that I do use make the unit worth every penny! I'm brain dead when it comes to al that bank stuff but this one is easy as pie but a little inconveniet to have to go only one way up to 10 and not backwards though software updates may soon be available to allow you to do those kind of things with a USB port they installed which is great!
The only other thing I discovered yesterday is that all 3 footswitch nuts were completely loose and the switches were moving around loosely which shocked me for being such a high end peice of equipment at $400 Street. I tightened them all up and all's well but that shouldn't have been that way after only owning it for 2 weeks. Best delay and Leslie sound I ever heard though bar none!

If I have a complaint, it is that it is right in the middle. Not enough headroom for loud cleans but a bit too loud when you drive it. That said, I tend to run it cleaner and use a number of pedals, sometimes stacked, and it works very well.
