ok heres the deal...i got my new route 66 biased perfectly, got a new tele and im ready to rock but i desperetly need a attenuator (i play at church twice a week and i dont think they can handle the rock that the 66 brings) ..and i dont have the cash flow to drop 300 bucks on one.. i know the airbrake is probably the best (but again i dont have that kind of cash right now) is there something else i can get in the mean while? or should i just save my money and get the airbrake......while killing people at my church with the 66 im thinking the weber minimass...let me know if any of yall have one and what your thoughts are on it. thanks

Weber Mass units aren't bad at all. For me, the big difference is the db drop upon insertion.
When using a mass set to it's loudest, it will still have 6db of reduction....which for some people is a bit much. Also, the minimass...even the 50 watt model isn't really enough for the Route 66. I had the same dilemma a while back as you do now. I consulted Myles (resident expert) here in the forum and he said a 50 watt attenuator is not enough for the Route 66. (As it often spikes over 50 watts)
He said I should get the 100 watt model.

DC here!
I got the Minimass 50W mode with my Route66l - for me it's enogh - it's only if I really dime the amp and set the Minimass really low say 8-9 o'clock or less that in gets really warm.
I think you'll probably be OK. What I did do (please Ted don't hit me) I took a 13mm drill bit and drilled 12 holes in the Mass - for ventilation.
Three on each side - left and right and 6 holes on top. That seem to work quite well as cooling.
Cheers: Dixiechicken!
