My name is Travis and I use a Route 66. How do know what my tone sounds like? Have you been sneaking around my house while I practice?
I'm just kidding. Although I am not familiar with that band (or artist). I might call my lawyer to see if we can get some money out of them, because I have had that name all my life.

Ha, Ha funny! Anyway the ban is from Scotland. They are what Cold Play wishes to be, in my opine. Anyway I love the songs and just wondered if anyone was familiar with this band. No Legal crooks needed!

Kich,
I totally know this band... at least I know a band named Travis... but only from one albums: "The Invisible Band". Judging from that album, if it's the right band, I would think you'd want something more "chimey" and not as thick as the 66.
I don't "own" the 66 yet (mine is just on order), so I can't really give you a good gage. It's a little hard to tell due to the mixing on that album and as I listen to it right now I think there might be some moments that you could pull off... I don't know, best to go play a few if you can. It seems like there is a Z that will do anything you can think of, except better than most of the amps out there.
Oh well, I tried to be somewhat helpful,

I'm very familiar with Travis and they kinda slot into my "brit-pop" tone slot. Great band. They are kinda Voxey and chimey, maybe not the Route 66's forte but having said that we do play "Writing to reach you" and it always sounds acceptable to me. I would go as far as to say a tele, celestion Gold and Route 66 would get very close to those tones, and it would be a killer rig! I'm a big believer if you have a good base tone, you can cover most things, especially with the right pedals and the 66 loves pedals. And what's a "wonderwall" anyway? ;D

Just as an after thought, I reckon a Stangray would KILL to do most of the brit pop stuff including Travis, but the 66 can be a bit of a chameleon when it wants too. Alot of the clean tones on my album people thought were Fenders or Voxes, but it's all 66.

If you keep trebs at noon or 1:00 with bass at 8:00 you have more chimy tones...

DC here! I have a Route66 with the new 2x10" cab - I don't know about chimey exactly the cab does not sound like Alnico Blues - but - the cab is certainly bright & articulate and have good projection. Up front in your face kind of sound. Cheers: Dixiechicken!
