I just snaged my Route 66 at Guitar Center yesterday and had no intention of buying abother amp but the sales rep said have you tried the Dr. Z in the sound room? I said no and went and tried the 66 and the Z combo and instantly fell in love with it's rich Plexi like tone.
Took her home and plugged into a 2 x 12 cab loaded with a Celestion G12H 70th Ann + Vintage 30 and using a Fulltone Deja 2 , Clyde wah, GT-500 and Line 6 DL-4 that baby sings incredibly from the lowest volume setting with with GT-500 cranked up to the amp cranked up using the GT at super low settings, it is just incredible. The sustain sings the most beautiful transparent notes with no ice picks and is like a flashback to Trower's original Bridge of Sighs tone. I feel like I died and went to tone heaven!

Hey thanks guys! Only question I have about the reviews, etc. is it says it gets these endless sustaining notes even at low levels. I don't hear that playing a Strat clean but kick on the Fulltone GT-500 with gain set on half on distortion side and boost side drive set at 3 o'clock then into the Fulltone Soul Bender and you get instant Jimi's Love or Confusion with endless sustain, beautiful harmonics that feedback beautifully for the trem bar parts with the 66 set on just 1. I just can't get over this!!!!!!!!!!! My Voodoo amps "high gain-hot rodded" Marshall JCM 900 can't begin to touch this kind of succulent and juicy tone I could just eat off the floor!

Hey yes I have a THD Hot Plate but with the Fulltone GT-500 you can get a really cranked Plexi tone controlling the level with the amp set on 10 and it blooms like nobody's business but I'm going to try the hot plate if I can stop playing long enough to try it! haha

I really like the boost channel of the GT-500 with the 66. Sends it into a really nice grind at small club levels and sounds very much like a cranked amp. Very cool. I tend to crank the volume of both sides as much as I can get away with and keep the gain down around 9 oclock. It Smacks!

You got that right! If you reverse the switch to put overdrive into Boost and keep the overdrive set kind of low at around 9 o'clock with the sustain up around noon, mid set on full, treble on noon on GT-500 Overdrive channel and Fat Boost set at 9 o'clock with drive set at 3 o'clock clrive on the booster side, it gets endless clean sustain with full dynamic fatness of tone.

I Will have to try that....Karma for that setting
