Anybody happen to hear the Live at Antones, Storyville CD? Could he be using his Rt. 66 on "What Passes for Love"? You can hear it here..... www.myspace.com/storyvilleaustintx

I don't know what amp he is using but it sounds great. I have not seen the live album pictures if there are any on the actual CD booklet. There may be a shot of the amp on stage? David Grissom has always been one of my favorite players today.

I know he endorses the '66.....it's what I imagine a PRS through a Route 66 would sound like.

Either that or one of his Bad Cats. Would depend on what was driving the amp.... Gonna have to pick up that CD great stuff! Gads, now I miss Austin again...go to a little hole-in-the-wall (i.e. Saxon Pub) and see Malford fronting a jam band made up of Eric Johnson's backing band and a few other top level Austin folks...or Monte Montgomery...or Eric Johnson...or Double Trouble backing a local slinger...or Arc Angels cats...or.....

I have the DVD of the concert. From my memory it was a badcat behind him but there are not many shots of the gear in use, except for Dave Holt's Marshall half stack. So there could be a Dr. Z in a place not so visible but all I really saw was the bad cat. I will check it out again and let you know what I can see some more.

I just watched it again. It is a Bad Cat head but can not tell what the model is.

OK the definitive answer from someone at the David Grissom website:
"The whole CD is a BadCat Wildcat into a 71 Marshall 4x12 cab."
After listening to the DG mp3 on the Rt66 page and then to Storville myspace, thought I heard some tonal similarities.

I love his tone on that clip too. I sent him an email to find out what he was playing and he told me he thinks it was a Hot Cat and a Fulldrive II.
