Have just heard that my Route-66 is completed sort of, in fact if understood correctly there's a bunch of them ready, just waiting for the sub-contractor to deliver the 230V trannies, then they will be shipped overseas asap.
I also ordered a 2x10" cab open back to go with it.
So I'd like some tips from more experienced users on using the Route. What are your fav settings for various sounds, volumes etc.
I have two electrics I use, a custom built Warmoth Tele with Seymour Duncan Vintage Stacks. And an old 1969 Les Paul with Seymour Duncan P-90 stacks.
I usually use both clean and dirty sounds, not metal-dirty - more bluesy. Any input much appreciated.

Most people I've noticed here in the forum use this:
Treble: Somewhere between 12:00 and three Bass: Somewhere between 12:00 and three Volume: Somewhere between 1:00 and full
Depending on taste, speakers, cabinets...etc., you'll probably fall somewhere in there.
Personally, I use three for everything, but with single coils, I back OFF the treble just a bit. I'd start with everything on three.
With this setting, rolling down the volume on the guitar cleans things up.
I almost always have to use an Airbrake.

The most important thing to remember is the tone controls work a little differently. They add gain and saturation after 12 oclock and will add volume as well. There are no bad settings on this amp. You simply cannot dial in a bad sound. My least favorite is volume low like 9 oclock and tone knobs cranked for a lower volume crunch. The tone knobs react very differently with my two cabs as well. With the Z Best they stay clean to around 12 oclock but it starts breaking up around 10-11 on my 1-12. I like to keep the tone controls relatively low, between 10 and 12 and raise the volume as much as I can. With my 1-12 I don't like volume or tone knobs above 12 unless I'm doing an all out rock gig whereas with the Z best I love it on 3 oclock across the board. The Z best holds together better. 9 oclock volume and 12 oclock tone knobs is a good clean place to start and work from there. I like 12 oclock all knobs most of the time. I can boost a little more to rock out and roll back slightly for funk or clean. The tone controls are fun to play with though. Clean bass and saturated treble is sometimes fun and vice-versa. I also like cranking the volume with tones at around 11 oclock. Most cover gigs I do around town I start the night 10 oclock across the board and use boosts for dirt and leads. I hardly ever use my airbrake. There is all kinds of variations to play with and you'll find different guitars and cabs will like a little more or a little less... It's a fun journey, you'll dig it! I know how hard the wait is and I imagine this post didn't help!

Favorite setting with Route 66 is LOUD!!! ;D
With my Strat it's everything on 1 o'clock and add seasoning to taste with various pedals.

For overdriven sounds, I like to take the bass setting down a bit.
I would say:
Treble: 3 o'clock Bass: 9 o'clock to 11 o'clock Volume: !!Spinal Tap 11!!
Clean sounds, I'd say noon, and 3 o'clock on the treble and bass. Volume up to breakpoint.

On a whim I put a 12aY7 in for the phase inverter. I know it's not a preferred tube for that position but I really like how it cleaned up the tone.

I have the Weber Minimass 50. I have used it extensively on the last rehearsals and will use on the gig tonight, with my old MusicMan RD-112-50 and an external 1x12" cab. I get quite bit of control over the final sound with the Weber. Tonight is gig were we will have to take the volume down quite a bit. Cheers: Dixiechicken

I used to set up like the first post suggested: treble and bass between noon and 3 and then turn up the volume as loud as I could. I found though that I liked to dime the volume with treble and bass turned farther down and turn them up as far as I could until preferred volume is reached. I found these latter settings to be less compressed sounding.
