Have made the leap of faith and ordered a Route-66 head and 2x10" cab from the Norwegian distributor. ( I live in sweden )
Decision to go with the 2x10" cab was primarily a money-thing. ( needed to stay under 20.000:- swedish-kronor limit )
I would be interested in to hear if anyone uses this cab with the Route-66? What can I expect soundwise, compared to other type of cabs?

I've used mine with my Z 2x10 cab. My 2x10 cab has stronger low mids than about any other cab I ever tried. The problem is it seems to accentuate my Route 66s ghost notes. You won't hear them when the band's playing. I prefer my 66 with a closed back cab. I love that 2x10 cab with everything else though! Very efficient and full sounding and only weighs 30 pounds.

Thanks kcraig & billyguitar! billyguitar - the ghost notes in your opinion - is NOT so noticeable in closed back cabinett? If so - to what do attribute this - the extended low mids in the 2x10" cab, or what? Just out of couriosity... Cheers: Dixiechicken

dixiechicken: I have the closed back 2x12 and ghost notes are not something i notice very much with my set up. The only time I hear them at all is when I'm playing alone and have the volume "Cranked" way up. Like I said I don't have any experience with a Z open 2x10 but Billy says Its not a problem in a band setting. I guess it's like anything we gear heads go for. You can research and get opinions but you're not really gonna know if it's perfect for you until you plug it in and play with it...You aren't afraid of ghosts are you?

kcraig! Only the gremlins in my on head. Saw somewhere on this board I think, one person thought that these "ghost" notes ( has to do with the filtering in the power supply I believe)could interfere a bit with the tuning of your axe. That you would here it as a slightly dissonant harmonic. Another poster thought of this as adding character & a primitive vibe to the general sound of the amp. Cheers: Dixiechicken

I've never tried rebiasing my amp and that may diminish the ghost notes some. The 2x10 cab's extra strong low mids bring it out more than the other 1x12 cabs I've tried it with, an Altec 417 and an EV. With the band you won't notice ghost notes and man the 2x10 will project the note's fundemental like nothing you've ever heard before. Also not everyone gets the ghosties at all so you might not.
