.....just because I swapped out the 5751 (RCA from Mike K) phase inverter with a Mullard CV4024, aka 12AT7 (also from Mike K.). I'm excited all over again, and I wanted to share Since my main guitar is a humbucked semi-hollow, I'm finding the amp has a noticable change in feel...almost as if it's more "alert" or something. Thanks to both Mikes (K and Z)! Terry

I'll have to try that again. I did it once before, wasn't so hot on it, but no harm in giving it another shot.

So far so good w/ me!
I've only played my hbuckers through it, a pair of Bartolinis, the PB55 and PB77D (bridge) to be precise..... Actually, I got them from pickupcentral - Phil's here on the forum. *great* service, highly recommended!

Terry,
I don't care for 12AT7s in the Carmen Ghia as it has a fixed bias for the phase inverter ... very rare in amps by the way .... and a 12AT7 puts out about ten times the current as a 5751 (and their gain is about the same though). So ... I'd maybe check with the good Doctor by I avoid doing this in the Carmen Ghia. a 12BH7 is fine though as is a 12AX7 (but a 12AX7 to me sounds awful in V2.
This is not an issue in other Z amps.
