I just bought a used Carmen Ghia. Has a 4 ohm output and an 8 ohm output on the back. Anyone know what the minimum loads are? Can I plug an 8 ohm in each? How about a 16 ohm speaker in the 8 ohm output?
Thanks for your help.

You would be OK running a y cable out of the 4 ohm output to the two 8 ohm cabs. You can also run a 16 ohm cab from the 8 ohm output, but you may lose a little power. What I do is use a Weber Z-Matcher and then there is no problems, loss of power or mis match. weberspeakerscom.secure.powweb.com/store/zmatch.htm

This may be a dumb question, but I just started looking at Dr. Z's.
Is it possible to run the Z-Best cab through the Carmen Ghia? I noticed the Z-Best is 16 ohms and the Ghia is only 8, yet I have heard people talking about it. I'm looking at buying a Carmen Ghia, but I think I might like to have a fuller sound with 2-12's. Somebody please help this idiot!

Somebody please help this idiot! Most ZBest cabinets are actually wired parallel at 4 ohms. Older style Ghia's have only one tap, an 8 ohm, but because of the massive tranny it can handle the ZBest, or any 2x12 for that matter.

i ran a 16ohm 212 cab for a while from the 8ohm output- i had asked the doctor himself who said just what masison said here- it's ok, you just get a little drop in power as said above if it is 16ohms it has been wired in series, easy to rewire in parallel to reconfigure as 4ohm- you'd get more power that way- suck it and see!
