Took the Route 66 head and my 2x10 cab to the gig last night. Jeez, this is one loud amp! I started off the volume about 2:00, treble on 9:00 and bass barely on. Using a bit of boost from my little green Guyatone compressor for a boost, it was huge. Thick but clear. I cut the volume down to about 12:30 and got the volume more in balance after the first few tunes. This amp will definitely do jazzy tones. No way am I a jazz guitarist but that's the kind of tone I use with my band and this amp did it great. I'm very impressed with it. Just the slightest hair on the clean that was only noticeable when I would smack a chord with the guitar volume up. I could see this amp being great with an Air Brake and normal bass and treble setting for blues and rock. EVERYBODY NEEDS ONE!

The 'magic' really starts to happen when the volume, bass and treble are past 12:00...everything starts adding gain but different flavors - very very cool tones hiding in that head! Can really dial in what you hear in your head.

Glad youre liking it Bill...I wish I'd had it(or something else) last night as midway through the 2ndset I heard the ole frying bacon sound...then nothing out of my z28. Luckily it was just the ef86 and I had a spare with me. I was pretty tramatic playing the restof that set through a solid state Rocktron!...UGH!!!

I'd have to plug into the PA if that happened. A Rocktron doesn't sound that bad to me!
