My latest round of mods and experiments has resulted in completely triumphant, righteous tone. Here's the rig:
Fender CS Tele Jr with Lollar P90s, RS Guitarworks Les Paul Jr upgrade kit, KTS Titanium saddles, and GHS Burnished Nickel 11-50 gauge strings
Dr. Z Route 66 - interstate logo - Dario Miniwatt EF86, NOS Tungsram 12AX7, a fresh duet of GT-KT66-HP #5 biased to about 33-34mA, and a JAN/Phillips NOS GZ34 (the mislabeled one from Mike at KCA - who has been extremely helpful in this process).
Dr. Z Z-Best 2x12" - loaded with Scumback H75 and H55 30-watt speakers, wired in parallel for a 4ohm load
Settings: all knobs at 3 o'clock.
--------
It's so fat, responsive, and articulate that I can hardly even breathe I'm so excited about it. This weekend my band is going into the studio...I'll be able to hear this rig via ribbon mics, a big live room, good pres, 2" tape (!!!), and a professional engineer at the helm. I'll be sure to post some samples from the sessions soon...in the meantime, I just wanted to share some of the excitement.
