I recently bought a Marshall TSL 2X12 cabinet, and ran it with my route 66...I was amazed by the shear volume and tightness of the bass in this little cabinet. I have several guitars, and they were all superb, particularly my Tom Anderson hollow T...which was particularly sharp through an AC30....anyone else recommend a speaker?

I had a TSL601 which had the "Wolverine" speaker in it. Total Crap speaker. I don't know if your cab has those speakers.
As for recomendations, are you looking to fill your TSL 2x12 cabinet with different speakers? If you're looking to cut the volume a bit, I'd throw a set of greenbacks in it. (97db)
If you want full blast, a pair of Vintage 30's (100db) Even though there's only a 3db difference, 3db is quite a jump in volume.
I have one cab with a greenback and one with a vintage 30, so depending on what the gig is (or rehearsal circumstances) that determines what cabinet I pick.

How about a cab with one of each! I traded a BOGNER 4x12 for a Z Best, the Bogner had Green Backs( it rocked) and the new Z Best has a G12h and Vintage 30, this 2x12 cab is awsome!! Plenty of lows and great definition! You would swear it is a 4x12!

I tried my route 66 with a marshall 2x12 1936 model with stock speakers. Can't say I liked it, I opened up the cab thinking I would change speakers, only to find particle board everywhere. I don't think anything will help this cab. Opened my 4x12 greenback marshall, looks like birch ply with a particle board back panel. I will be selling my 2x12 cab when I can save some cash for a Z Best. I always wondered why I didn't like that cab. Now I know why.

I run my Route 66 with the VHT 4x12 with Eminence P50E ... it is LOUD and tight. Not sure what the VHT cab is made of but it weighs a TON!
