Howdy,
Based on what little I know about the 'Crows, didn't thier guitarist employ tweed amps in the studio? Even if he did, the '66 might still be a good platform for at least getting into the same ballpark. Consider this a bump for a good question; I'm curious to learn if the '66 has any tweed in it's sonic genepool. Eggman

I user the RT66 for those style tones.... It works great and you should be able to get very close. I like all my controls @ 3 o'clock, that gets me close, you may need to tweak it a bit after that to get exactly what you want. Good luck!

However, for those settings, you'd better have an attenuator... or a very long guitar cable

I have tried it and I added a Mini Mass 50 watt in the mix- with that - you can stand close....I was using a Jeresy Girl pedal on it as well.....sounded good- not like the Crowes.....but good- kind of Stonesy.....Keefie if you will....

That's what I go for, a Robinson/Keef tone. In fact, when I bought the RT66 from Stu @ Fat Sound those are the two names I dropped when explaining what I was after in an amp and tone. It really works well for those type of tones. With my Gold Top I get Black Crowes, and with a Tele in open G I kinda get a Keef tone, a bit short O attitude though!

It is actually a KT45... Audley Freed used one for a while. Awesome tone!

Howdy, Never been particularly interested in the Route 66, but threads like this don't help with my GAS. I'm a 'Stones disciple, afterall! I'm having naughty thoughts about a '66, my LP Special tuned to open G and ripping some juicy suspended chords!
