I seem to vary between 11 and 2, with humbuckers. Volume is always set to taste (well, they both are, right?)...but in this case taste may be "smooth and luscious" or "aggressive and direct."
I like this tone control a lot. It's like a personal augmentation device: "more of me" down to "not more of me"

Whoever is using the 9 O'clock setting - what kind of stuff are you playing with that? That setting sounds pretty thin to me, but maybe that's just not what I'm used to.

It almost sounds like a little amp at 9 o'clock, like one of those old tube practice amps.

When I had a Ghia, the tone was almost always set between 1 and 2 oclock. Same with the Z28, same with the Stingray.

It almost sounds like a little amp at 9 o'clock, like one of those old tube practice amps. Yeah i know! Weird- like a radio or one of those "smokey" amps. On the other hand, you can get some great useable jazz tones with it at 3 o'clock or further, i'm finding. If you turn up the amp a lot so it's distorting, you can turn the tone to 9 o'clock and get a cool sound. For some reasons it seems like it becomes a "gain" knob at this point, with more gain added as you turn it left and less as you turn it right.

I play around 9, it gets way to bassy above 12, that is with humbuckers. I'm beginning to wonder why my amp runs that bass-y after all of your comments.
It's actually not thin at that setting

I generally set the tone just a little past 1 O'Clock. The volume at 9 for fairly clean (Little chime) and 11 to 12 for some balls. I play humbuckers and run my Ghia through a Z-best. I've had this amp. about a month and a half now and still every time I play it I get a big a$$ smile.

OK, depends on the speaker(s) as much as anything. Mine was always @ noon/1:00 with (1) V-30 Got a Blue Dog today, had to twist the tone to 2/3:00, which as we all know is a drastic tonal change on the Ghia.

re kruzty's comment that 3 o'clock is too thin- largely depends on the speaker cab- with my 2x12 open back greenback cab there is so much bass that with either my tele or my esp xtone (humbuckers) there is way too much bass above 10 o'clock in most situations suck it and see

My Ghia runs around 12-1 on the tone. I am using a open back 2x12 and open back 2x10. Best of both worlds.

1:00 to 2:00, with Strats. Closer to noon with some humbucker guitars.
