Had a loud rehearsal last night (Loud to us is either at, or just below stage volume. Most of the time it's real quiet) I ran the the Remedy at 1/2 power, no airbrake.
I had previously said that my speaker of choice was the greenback in my open back cabinet. I tried a V30 in a different open back, but it was just too bright (low highs), and that upper mid honk of the V30 just made it too focused. Traits that a closed back should cure.
So I put the (well broken in) V30 back in a closed back. (small LOPO cab you see on Ebay) I used my Les Paul last night.
It was fantastic!! I didn't expect it to be that good. The closed back cab controlled the honk of the V30 and it increased the bass. For a Marshall tone, I've always liked closed back cab. I couldn't believe how good it sounded. (and to think, that V30 sat on a shelf for two years because I hated it so much)
Now I'm wondering two things:
1) How will this little closed back cab sound against my openback w/greenback?
2) What would a greenback in a closed back cab sound like with the Remedy?
For the gigs we play, it's better for me to have an openback, as it fills up the stage and isn't so directional. But man...a greenback in a closed back is getting me curious.
At a minimum, I'll do #1: compare the V30-closed back, against the Greenback-openback and report back.

Fascinating. I've been wanting to pull the V30 out of my Z-Best and put a Gold in there, but that would leave me with a V30 and an unloaded 1x12 Convertible. Maybe you just made my decision easier! Hmmmm... I wonder if I have impedance issues though - have to check now!

Thanks for the update. While I don't have the closed back cab, I have had my Remedy with 112 open back Z cab in a live setting and was pleased with the results - got lotsa positive comments from other players and bar patrons, too .... that said, I'd still like to round out the collection with either a convertible cab or a Z-best cheers always, eh Joel
