Can't believe, you can prefere other tones, but if you chose it after hearing it there was some reason!! And if so it's a lifetime gig!!

I see a lot of these on ebay too. I think they bring it home, run it at low volume with no airbrake and think it needs a master Vol. because it has too much head room. When I first got mine I didn't get the beauty of the controls right away. I was misusing them like they were normal amp controls. The amp is so good that it caused me to seriously upgrade my guitars. Guitars that sounded ok through a Fender or Peavy with a tube screamer running will have their flaws exposed by the 66. I think this happens often with really great amps like this that have a lot of definition and harmonic richness. Many intermidiate players would draw the conclusion that the amp was not for them instead of noticing that their guitars intonation was slightly off and they were just hearing it exposed for the first time through the Z. I like this amp so much right now that if I was ever held up leaving a gig they would probably have to kill me for it.

Thanks for clearing that one up for me...boy...trying to surf the Z proboards while working sometimes yields many brain farts. Thanks.

I think most people are probably surprised by the volume output of these things and it ends up being more amp than they expected or need. That's my only theory as to why anyone would want to sell one. My 1-12 closed back with the Celestian heritage V-35 (custom made speaker) has tamed the volume nicely for smaller clubs. Mine will be with me till retirement.

The Airbrake seems to work great with the 66. I don't seem to lose any noticeable tone at the 4th setting and it really helps with the volume. The bedroom setting does affect the tone but it is what it is and let's you play the amp while the kids are sleeping!
