Guys - I'm wondering if a Remedy head will fit in any of the current Z combo cabs. Anyone know for sure? Thanks -

I believe the Remedy is built on the same chassis as the Maz Jr. But you better find out for sure.
But all the lettering will be upside down.

I checked the Remedy against my MAZ. The chassis bolt pattern is the same, but the valance cut out is different. The Remedy opening is roughly 1-1/2" wider. Looks like it'd still fit, though. Thanks for getting me out of my chair so I could measure what I have in the next room!

It will bolt in, albeit upside down, in any of the MAZ, RX, Galaxie, etc cabs.....done it, works fine.

Guys - I'm picking up a 2x12 MAZ combo cabinet for my Remedy. Now the question is, which speakers. I read a bunch of threads about running a V30 and G12H, or Greenbacks, but what about a pair of neo's in an open back combo cabinet? Maybe a Tonkerlite and Lil Texas, or just a pair of Tonkerlite's?

I know a couple guys who are using the Tonkerlites and love them. They are a lot lighter than ceramic or even Alnico for that matter. About 6-8 lbs each depending on what you compare to, but that makes your combo 12 to 16 lbs lighter. Nice!

Steve - Do you think mixing a Tonkerlite with a Lil Texas would work, or do you think I should stick with a British flavored pair of speakers?
I put a Rajin Cajun and a Ramrod in a '73 Vibrolux and they sounded pretty good together. Kinda makes me wonder if the Tonkerlite and Lil Texas would work well together.

I'll still put in for a pair of greenbacks.

I'll still put in for a pair of greenbacks. I've never owned an amp with greenbacks. Are they more of an early breakup speaker? I need to go from clean chording/tight punchy bass lines for a couple country tunes, to OD (with pedals) on some harder rock tunes. I'm playing humbuckers in a Les Paul or PRS. Do you think the greenback give me that?

I didn't want to start a new thread, so I kind of hijacked my original thread on setting up a 2x12 combo for the Remedy. Well, it's done, and at first blush it sounds better than expected. I grabbed the blonde cab from the Scratch and Dent sale..... and threw in two neo speakers (an Eminence Tonkerlite and Lil Texas). The overall weight is manageable - not much heavier than my 1x12 MAZ. The tone of the speakers seems to be good with my Korina McCarty - very balanced, but I'm holding out judgment with my Strat. I have to qualify that because I just threw a set of CS '54 pickups in it about an hour ago (thanks, Merks!), so I haven't had time to dial them in yet. These speakers sound honky and lack low end with the Strat, but the Strat sounds great through my MAZ. I think it's just a matter of dialing everything in. So far, so good, and I can deal with the upside down faceplate. I'm in sales....I'm used to reading upside down!

This is SOOOO coool! How often does a Combo cab come up in the scratch and dent? I love this idea! This should be a good sounding rig, and if the Doc decides to offer a Remedy combo, I can always buy a face plate. The Scratch and Dent sale comes up once a year, I believe. The last one was in January, but I haven't been around long enough to know if it happens every January.

You could get ahold of Harvey and have him make you one of those really cool exotic ones. Probably just mail him a paper template of the Remedy head face for the cutout reference and I'm guessing he's made them for that cab before and probably already knows the overall dimention for the combo cab

Thanks for the suggestion. I took the Remedy combo to practice tonight and it sounded great. This is a winner.

Yeah, I always read about heads being more versatile. I think it's the other way around, because you have the grab and go or you can always plug them in to other cabs.

DAVE I've decided I'm hanging onto the head cab so I can always throw the chassis back in it and take it as a head and cab, in addition to the combo set up. Best of both worlds!
