Just got a used G and L "classic" tele off of ebay.......delivered yesterday.
Now I know what all you guys who play teles and the RT 66 are so happy about. Wow..big Thumpy bottom end, sounds nice and clean "strummed" and that bridge position plus the rt 66 Treble (3 oclok) Volume (noonish-3)..........OMG!
I know Coreybox just dumped his 66 because it did not have the high end he needed....and there have been times when I felt the same way, especially when trying to play at lower volumes.........but, with the tele type guitar, you get all the high end you need. In fact all the highs and lows are perfectly balanced.
I am in a trio and last night at rehersal, because of the tele, the group sounded so much more full.......we were doing tunes ranging from Chris Isaak to "I shot the sherriff" to "Drive my car" by the beatles. All this with the tele, z best and a t rex ROOMATE and I was in tone heaven. Very , very versatile!
I also just got a weber ceramic 50 w silver bell loaded into my z 1x12. This also has given me the extra headroom I was searching for with the 66.......really super tight and punchy witha a les paul.......real loud still though.
Anyway, I know some of you already know this stuff, but, just wanted to share my latest discoveries with anyone looking for some new ideas.
Peace out!

I'd love to try a tele with a humbucker in the neck to emulate Andy Summers' 61 tele for the Police band I'm doin' at the moment. I've never heard a tele through my rig. I don't think I even know anyone around here that has one!
