I finally hooked with Curt yesterday to pick up that blonde 66 w/matching 2/12 cab(Greenbacks)...man what a great looking rig! With my wifes new schedule, Im pretty much "Mr Mom" in the evenings now but I was able to play through it for a little while at low volume...what a great sound. I turned my tele full up and just barely cracked the volume on the 66 to where sound was coming out(treble 3, Bass noon) and it was very smooth, rich, warm sound...almost sounded like I had a compressor on to smooth it out. I turned it up to about 10 oclock for a little bit and then I could start to hear more of the RT66 character come through...still clean and smooth with a bit more high end coming through. I have gigs Thur, Fri and Sat this week but I'll probably just play the 66 on Saturday...I can hardly wait to crank this bad boy up and get the full effect!

Glad you two were able to finally close the deal rc, congrats! It's funny, I've always had at least 2 Z's in the house to choose from, and the choice has usually been an easy one. But now with the Stingray and Rt 66, I find myself waiting until the last minute to decide what to bring. They are both so different, yet both get the job done SO well...consequently, I never find myself in the middle of a gig wishing I'd brought the other amp. ;D
That 66/ 2x12 greenback rig would've been perfect at the big jam I was at this past weekend! My 1x12 'ray was parked beside an insanely loud 60w Fender Supersonic...easily the loudest thing on stage that day, although the 'ray pretty much held it's own. Put my Westone's in for the first time in quite a while.

Is your Ray's cabinet a closed back? If so, all the sound is going past your shins.
That Fender is an open back, so you're getting the blast out the back, and reflecting off the wall....right into your face.
That guy with the strat is one big dude. Look how small the guitar looks on his body. Is that bass player going through an old Acoustic 360?

The thing with the Supersonic, it's got twice the wattage of the 'ray...and a Vintage 30 to boot. Lot's more in that package than I'd ever need, including volume AND gain. Have to admit it was fun jamming out a couple tunes thru it though.

Hi Rccelius, now you understand why I like so much keep it crancked and I had the problem in boosting for solos!!
PS: With it's sustain I don't use compressor anymore, think it could be just for some country style...
