I finally bought myself a blond Rt. 66 from Tele62 and can't wait till it gets here. I've been diggin' my Stingray for the clean and pretty stuff with single coils, but I've been missing those gnarly & rockin' big bottle sounds with humbuckers.
I've been lurking on the Route 66 forum for some time now and you guys have finally convinced me. I only checked out a Route 66 briefly at MAE in Ft. Lauderdale, but the sound has never left my head. I just hope I like it as much as you guys do!
Thanks for all of your tips, reviews & sound clips! ;D ;D ;D

Congratulations!!!
VERY different than the Doc's el84 based amps. I literally just got done blasting away for about 30 minutes in the basement. Les Paul with a Route 66. Playing around with my brand new Verbzilla and Boss RT-20.
You'll notice a difference after about 15 minutes. It takes a long time to warm up those big bottles. (I might have never noticed, but the Dr. himself told me about it.)

Congrats, you will love it ;D. A GREAT addition to the 'ray, which is still KING in my book for cleans...and the 66 for snarly, aggressive, all out rock attack. Note: hit the front end hard with a clean boost and stand back. ;D

Crank it up, 2-3 oclock across the board and hold on to your hat... I'm really digging the volume around 4 oclock and the tones on 12 lately too. Pretty loud... I going to get a 1-12 box with a 35 watt speaker to help tame the beast a little for smaller clubs. Hope it doesn't blow! Happy playing and watch those ears.
