Hey all, I'm interested in the Remedy, but after listening to a bunch of clips, I'm curious: Where (more or less) does the Remedy break up (unattenuated)?
Most people demoing the amp tend to play it dirty (which does sound great), but I'm the kind of guy that like to set his amp clean & use boosts or ODs to get a lead sound. I mostly play funk & R&B (think James Brown, or Eric Johnson's clean sound) on my '62 RI strat.
So where does the Remedy start to cross over (given that configuration)? How do the tone controls contribute? I'll most likely be going through a single 12 (probably a V30).
Thanks!

It depends on your pickups...and a person's definition of clean. But in general, I would say the Remedy doesn't have a whole lot of headroom.

In 40 watt mode, does in clean up with the guitar volume rolled back to a nice sparkley clean? Does it do the "clean to mean and everything in between"? ;D

In my experience with the remedy I've been really pleased with the amount of clean headroom. On full power it's plenty loud enough for me. My cab is always mic'd though. My usual setting is both volumes around 12:00 on half power and a brake lite on 2. This gives me a little breakup but I can still play clean when I need it. If you set the volumes lower than 11:00 I'd say you'd still have some great clean (with a strat). Plus the remedy breaks up great with pedals.
It will definitely do clean to mean of you like using the guitar volume.

think James Brown, or Eric Johnson's clean sound on my 62RI strat... *That's* what I mean by clean. Hmm. I'm going to have to try to find one I think. Thanks for the replies!

Does it do the "clean to mean and everything in between"? ;D Yes, just with a roll of the guitar volume knob or a change in your pick attack. Awesome.

I have a Remedy and the clean tone is dynamite, but tends to get overlooked. As you can tell on You Tube, most demos tend to be cranked to the point of meltdown.
I tend to run the amp on half power and with a typical Strat and the volumes set around 10:00-ish, it is still very clean with maybe a little hair if you really dig in. With my G&L and MFD pickups I'll get mild breakup, but it will still play clean depending on pick attack. Switching to full powers cleans everything right up.
If you have a clean boost box you can set the amp on the edge of clean and then use the boost to push it over, while retaining more attack than with an overdrive pedal. It works great.
The amp can get pretty loud and I've just gotten a Weber Mini-Mass attenuator to play with. First impressions are that it takes very little attenuation to get a clean/gritty balance at reasonable levels.
It's a great amp, you won't be sorry.

The Remedy replaced all my other amps that is how good it is. I use it live exclusively based on the fact that I can get that clean Sparkle like tone think Hendrix ( Hey Joe, Wind Cries Mary) and also make the hair on the dogs back raise up If I want it too. ;D If that is what you are after... You will not regret getting this amp.

I love the cleans. Use full power with a touch of verb and it is spooky how great this thing sounds. I have had great results using this setup and before I got my Remedy it was the thing I feared most, loss of the clean tones. Cleans are here just remember your right hand makes all the difference with an amp like this.

I never take the Remedy into distortion anymore...
For me , this amp is all about "cleans & a Strat"

This amp has great cleans! Plenty of headroom IMO also (but then again Im always mic'd).
I A/B'd this amp with my Ghia when I first got it and its clean tones sounded almost as good as the Ghia - they are both VERY transparent amps.
I read somewhere else (on this forum I think) that you can roll back the volume on your guitar and this amp preserves the hi-end / sparkle of your guitar - like a volume/treble bleed mod would. I have to say that was my experience exactly! Somehow you can roll back from dirty to sparkly clean without significant loss of treble - none of my other amps seems to do it like the Remedy does.

It seemed like I wore the Remedy at my dealer out... Now I am waiting for another to come in...
I love the cleans of the Remedy!!! Even on 1/2 power I could get great clean headroom with an open back.. I don't play super loud and have no need to I mic my amp all the time unless the place is really small.
I thought it was way to loud once the volumes got past about noon - 2 ...

Thanks tas!
I've been playing through a Top Hat Club Deluxe, but thinking about trading it on a Remedy (probably should have just ordered one in the first place!). The Top Hat's a great amp, but I just can't get the Remedy out of my head somehow...

Yeah, I about flipped when I heard that recording and made a big fuss about the guitar and singing, and Jaye admited he was the culprit on both counts. He is very talented....

Couldn't have worded it better. It has wonderful cleans at bedroom, apartment and quiet recording levels, however, take this machine outside at gig levels and she just oozes rock-n-roll crunch and more! However, just like John said, pickups really define the clean level. Stratocaster's can get more clean volume than a Les Paul....mine anyway.... I love this amp!

I have my volumes around 10 o clock, and it is a bit to loud for my apt but it is pretty clean and chimey on 1/2 power.. Maybe I play quieter than i think I do.. I have been using my Tele and Strats mostly and only a little with the LP... I don't have super hot pickups in my LP but I can see and hear a bit more hair start with them when I dig in.. Haven't gotten it to gig volumes yet still.. Must be something wrong with me... lol
